"Improvise, adapt, overcome" apparently was vacant yesterday Douglas and Ray.
Airfields are getting more restrictive up here Douglas!
Will anxiously await your images!
Glad your patience was not totally wasted!

Hi Dan, everything went well with me yesterday at Cherry Point, albeit the long delay in getting out of the base, which was totally expected. I really felt sorry for the folks who had to pay for hotels, the expensive premiums seating, stuck in traffic for hours, only to be told they were not allowed to bring even a 150-600 lens in. I read it the traffic improved a lot today, because they opened the gate a lot earlier today.
Anyway, here is the first installment from yesterday. This was my second time to the the F-35 B version. The humidity was pretty low so I was pleasantly surprised to see vapor cones a few times. Most of my shots with the vapor cones clipped wings, or tails, I do have a few that I like.

But it is thee United States Bill! We have a couple A10's near me with very unusual paint schemes..Blacksnake and Camo at Martin MANG airport!
Dan, where did you shoot the nose of the A-10 from? Eastern Boulevard through the fence, or from the civilian side of the airport? I'll be back there Thursday and Friday this week.
We've been told we are not allowed to take any photos of the A-10s from their side of the airfield.

Well the "happening" did not appear here in Mary-land...Cloud cover was terrible but brilliant blue cool skies now with much rain due in this evening!
We have so much light pollution around here that I was skeptical we would see much. Around 2am on Saturday morning I walked the bike path out into the middle of the marsh to get away from the streetlights. Naked eye, there were just faint colors. Probably wouldn't have even noticed if I wasn't looking for it.
But the R5 brought them out nicely. These were all shot with the 24-70II at f/2.8, ISO800, 1.3 seconds exposure. Topaz noise reduction.
I thought it would be a simple matter to clone out the power lines, but I couldn't get it to look right. Even tried the Generative AI feature. Everything left artifacts, so even though the power lines were gone, I could still see where they had been. I had to leave them in.

Nice work Douglas,
I'll be fighting the Air Show crowds up north this weekend, not looking forward to it.
And there will be less than 1/5 of what you had people/traffic wise.
Air Show I went to last year they only looked at one of my bags but not the other, kinda surprised and not smart on their end.

Truthfully, the composition can carry itself power lines included!
No worries!

Mark, lovely shot of the aurora! I heard about it from Dan and other sources, but I had to leave my house at 2:15 AM for the airshow on Sat, and I thought it was going to be cloudy in our area, so I never put too much thoughts into it. Some people in our region got some amazing shots. I have never seen aurora in person. Stopping by in Iceland for 4 or 5 days next month but it's the wrong season for aurora. Shooting at sunset (12:00AM) and sunrise (3:00AM) can be challenging, too late and too early..
I have a lot of files from last Saturday's airshow to go through, first time to see this F-18, not sure if it's a regular in the demo circle. I think it's a component of the show's "USMC Air To Ground Task Force Demo" at MCAS Cherry Point.
Wow, how do you take the time and effort to apply that paint scheme on an aircraft and not give it a bath before a dog and pony show? In addition, I guess the Marines use a lot of discretion when they count the number of hydraulic drips/minute so they don't have to write the leak up. (I am hoping that is not from fuel.)
