I do agree with some of the posts above. If you really want to unleash the potential of the Nikon 14-24, I think it should be tested on the Nikon D3.
Well yeah, maybe, but I thought the purpose of this set of tests was simply to show how the 14-24 will perform, vis-s-vis the other lenses, on Canon DSLRs using Mark's adapter.
I'm eagerly awaiting both the findings and the availablity of the adpater.
I'm not interested how well the 14-24 performs on a Nikon - I'm waiting for a wide zoom that performs well on the 5D and this sounds like it may be the one. Few wide primes let alone zooms really test even the 'lowly' 12mp sensor at the corners and edges so I can't see a whole lot of reason to go with 21mp if you are mainly a wide shooter.

I'm considering the 14-24 for use on a 5D and on a D3. So, a system vs system test would be nice to see at some point.
Agreed. I system vs system test would be great as well. My upgrade path from a 5D is wide open. Right now I'm assuming it'll be a 5D2 (from a "most realistic/affordable/easy" point of view) but I'm not discounting a 1Ds3, Nikon's D3 or rumored D3x or even MFDB. Fun and expensive times for sure.
I'm still hoping to announce pricing and availability before Xmas, but we're still talking to the engineering people about final details.
What I can tell you from preliminary viewing of Friday's test results is that the Nikon just owns the 14-20mm range: nothing, not even the Canon 14L can touch it at apertures wider than f8. By f8, the 14L II is actually very nice on the 1Ds III . . . full results coming.

How well does the 14-24mm perform when it comes to flare?
The CZ 21 sucks big time when shooting into the light and the flare produced is ugly! So does the CZ distagon 15mm f3.5.
Nikon 14-24G v Contax N 17-35 v Canon 16-35 L II and others to follow. These are the first images online using the new Nikon lens on the new 22MP Canon 1Ds III.

Flare: the D21's Achilles Heel. When it's there, it's *really* there. I shoot night architecture almost exclusively these days, and the flare was just a bit too much with this lens. Some flare is to be expected when aimed at point sources of light, but certainly there are ways to control its rendition on the sensor, but the 17-40 beats it. Maybe the Zeiss needs better coatings or something.

Might be that it is early in the morning in the US, but it took me a while to figure out how to navigate to the updated 14-24 vs 14L f2.8 results (the hyperlinked title was the same color as other text in the review). Just in case anyone was similarly intellectually challenged here is the direct link:

I did the same thing Tim.
Quick question that I'm not sure has been asked. Have any of these files been printed, and if so how large? Owning a 5D, I'm blown away, and strongly considering selling a few things to buy this set up if a super large print will be possible.

Mark,
I know you took the photos on a Friday ... and probably worked a good portion of Saturday and Sunday to process and post the photos asap ... knowing the 'whole world' was waiting ... so a "sorry" is not required! I very much appreciate your efforts.
