Are you saying that the on the 5D they will perform the same or closer to the same because of the lower resolution?
Mike
It would make an interesting companion piece to the other tests to get the 14-24 together with a CZ21 on a 5D and find out . . . I'll see what I can do. I would expect the apparent difference to lessen slightly, though.
Good that we're seeing more tests now . . . reading between the lines (don't know if the results are available online?) it seems likely that one was tested on an (unspecified) Canon body, and the other on a similarly unspecified Nikon body, which would make direct comparison meaningless. Two entirely different reviews from different editions of the magazine are summarised by the DPReview poster – it wasn't a 'head-to-head' editorial.
What's interesting is that it confirms how the 14-24G is optimised for much wider apertures than we've seen in any wide angle lens previously – let alone a zoom. At f16, of course, any differences will be minimal; the 14L II is a very nice lens – it's just not as good as the 14L II I tried. However, I should be re-testing another sample soon . . . .

I've got a 5D and Paul's old CZ 21. Jim's got a 1Ds3 and a 14-24. All we are lacking for said test is a shiny new 16-9 Nikon G adapter.
ahem, cough cough.
Of course, the day the level adapters go on sale will be the day before I place an order at B&H So by that time we might have 2 copies of the 14-24 to test

Mark,
A couple of questions. Is the flange on the adaptor a separate piece screwed on? If it is how much room is there inside the diameter of the flange and how far out does the rear element project? I'm thinking that the canon flange might be replaced by a Sigma flange since the register is exactly the same.
Are you going to post some pictures of the adaptors on your web page?

The adapter that I am using is a modified Happypage adapter shimmed 0.25mm. The lens is pinned at F/14 These were shot as a test only, handheld @ ISO 800 1Ds3 Lens at 14mm

Andy.. i was just wondering when you purchased your nikon to EOS adapter from HaodaHK?.. They state their adapters have been modified and now a second generation. Not sure what the differences are?

Stephen also confirms a slight deterioration in performance as you rise through the zoom range. From 14-20mm it's flying, but from 21-24mm it's on the back foot . . . despite that, I'm confident that the gap between the 14-24G and the CZ21 is much narrower than the flawed first test indicates. And I'm not sure a 12MP sensor will be able to tell them apart.
I'll be updating the test pages this week with a 5D-based CZ21 v Nikon 14-24 re-test, which is much needed to correct the slightly skewed impression given by the 1Ds III test.
