Here's a few more sentences: It leads with the Deathstar of SLRs, the D3. The biggest change is, in fact, one of bigness. Nikon equipped the new camera with a 36x23.9-millimeter image sensor that’s nearly as large as an old 35-milimeter film frame. Previously only Canon made these “full-frame” sensors, which capture extreme wide-angle shots and have larger pixels to soak in more light.
A small step below the D3 is the new D300. Its 12.2-megapixel sensor is in the standard size of 24-by-16 millimeters, and sensitivity stops at a still-impressive ISO 3200 ... Otherwise, it’s virtually identical to the D3, and probably at a steep discount. The D200 it’s replacing currently costs about $1600.It will be going head-to-head with Canon’s other new camera, the 10.1-megapixel EOS 40D
which sells for $1300. I spent a few happy weeks with the D200 last summer and fell in love with its easy controls and spot-on color accuracy. My only gripe was with the low-light performance—an area where Canon dominates. If Nikon’s new focus on light-sensitivity pays off, we’re in for a real clash of the camera titans. Yep, Nkon View does a great job but its behind (I think). All it needs is some upgraded tweaking. Im not sure what is involved in making this happen? Im not a software engineer but you would think with all the great gear advancements we would see some software improvements too. Im not really complaining just wondering I thought we were suppose to see a new version already.
On another note Im still trying to understand why "Live View Mode" is needed on a DSLR? Any thoughts? How important would this be to you?

I believe this is a prelude to the future for all the pure-play camera companies: video.
Given the internet a large number of newspapers are moving their PJs into becoming videographers (?) as well, and as you start to get consolidation between the web, paper, TV etc. the days of still-only cameras will be numbered. So, if you're Nikon, Canon, Olympus etc. and you don't want your professional market to be toasted into oblivion by the likes of Sony and Panasonic, better start investing in contrast-based AF, video, HDMI output etc. now. Then you can offer news organizations equipment that'll do high-quality stills and video...

It's real important to me in my job and I have been asking for it for a couple of years now, that and an inviewfinder level/bubble.
The two reasons are I would be able to slot that puppy into spots I can't reach with my head and also one would hope that it would allow the mirror to remain up so I could shoot in near silence.
Now that would be cool!
Cheers,
Jasin.
