Right, there's a few posters that seem to get off on starting these things and either drop out of sight or post links to other rumor sites. I wonder if these people actually own a Canon or take pictures at all ? It seems to me that propagating these rumors is almost a full time endeavor for some. When would they have the time to use the camera they already have ?
Good luck.
I suspect some people actually do hear these things and are just passing on the info. Then again there are others that just like to start the rumors. Either way, no harm no foul

With 48 pages and going strong, it is not just the OP that seems to enjoy these fantasies.

Nope, this camera is a "Big Lots" exclusive.
I think Canon is planning a big midnight release party with a limited release. ...and for the first time ever Canon is going to beat out the Ebayers by selling them on Ebay themselves!
Oh, I also heard that the camera is going to have a cameo along with the VW Touareg 2 in the Bourne Ultimatum this Friday.

obviously I have nothing better to do now, which made me come up with the following:
48 pages with 8 messages per page = 384 messages
Assuming each message takes 5 minutes to post, total time consumed = 1920 minutes = 32 hours.
If a photog charges $100 per hour, then the total cost of this thread = $3,200
Man, with that money I could buy a used 300mm 2.8 IS
Now if the OP deletes his first post to save his face, all this money will be wasted in no time
Hilarous
But erhh, sorry, I definately don't take more than 5 minutes average to post in here, so your numbers are off, as far as my posting is concerned (And 100 bucks per hour? I wish!)
Well we may not see the 40D this month but I'm really looking forward to having a Canon with in-body IS. That, along with auto sensor cleaning, live view, better noise levels all the way around, about a frame-per-second better performance and slightly improved focus accuracy are going to make a great camera. A real Sony killer (not to mention Nikon).
10D = a good idea attempted
20D = the good idea actually realized
30D = a bit of polish added
40D = a real upgrade of performance and features
After all this year is a big anniversary of EOS so something special is bound to be offered and the low and mid range cameras are traditionally where new stuff is tried out.

Where can I order it? I'm ready to go!

I disagree. I had both cameras and while the 20D had better functions and a higher resolution the 10D produced a better photo. Also you left out the D30 and the D60. The 10D was Canon's 3rd digital SLR.
There used to be a web site that actually graphed the price trends for products over time... I haven't seen that feature on any of the price grabbing sites I've been visiting lately... Does anyone know what if any sites might still do that?
You have to beware of the scammers that they sometimes allow to advertise prices. Using the median price looks like it has gone from around 1450 in March 06 to around a 1k now.

Quite agree. The 10D was (is) one of the best sensors ever made. With the 20D I think Canon were really trying to make the 30D but got it slightly wrong. Still a good camera mind you, but just not quite there.
