A few from last Sunday. World Rally Championship (WRC) has been hosted again in Auckland but I was only made aware on Saturday, so preparation was minimal. Public areas have very limited access for saftey reasons, so choosing a suitable vantage point is pretty much minimal as well.  I'm glad I have a few keepers as well. I really wanted to take shots of the cars lifting a few feet from the ground but due to controlled access, it's just a horrible feeling missing those shots.
Anyhoo, back to the D7000 focus at faced paced, weather changing conditions... it's freaking awesome! Focus tracking (not 3d) is spot on and sll of my shots are in focus. I found a way to speed up AF on the D7000:
On custom setting menu/Autofocus/Focus tracking with lock-on/ - this must be set to off
What this does is disable the delay on the camera when it starts focusing on a subject, so off is the quickest...even really fast on a Nikkor 300mm f/4 AF (non AFS).
Buffer issue? I use 2 Sandisk Extreme 32gb uhs-1 and read/write performance on this cards makes the buffer isuue almost neglible. While I burn through 10 frames at 14bit, maybe around 3 secs past, the card can save about 4-5 raw files already, which gives me extra frames to use on burst shots. Slow cards are really slow. Fast cards make a lot difference on the D7000, no doubt.
I have some focus stacking project at cue but the amount of work is simply nuts. Shots below have no photoshopping, no cropping. CHeers.
