While testing the Nikkor 180mm f/2.8 ED ai-s + TC14A (=252mm f/4) I was lucky to capture this tanager:

Burnished-buff Tanager with a Nikkor 180mm ais + TC14A by labecoaves, on Flickr

Male Burnished-buff Tanager (Tangara cayana) around 3 m of distance. D7000 hand held, ISO 320, f/5.6 & 1/800s. The image is a ~ 20% crop.

Hmmm, Asian chicks aye.

Those images can certainly warm me up during our winter days here in NZ.

A few from today. We were supposed to go trekking on the mountain/hills but the winter wind blast made us cancel the plan, instead I headed out to the nearest beach where it's barely occupied except with at least 5 wind/kite surfers... and these guys/gals braved the 7 degree wind chills... my face was numb after this shoot, lol. All in all, it was a great opportunity to shoot such a talented bunch of people doing this sport

. All shots are shot handheld as I didn't bring my monopod.

I have set the AF focus on the D7000 to AFS (manual selective).

No photoshopping, no cropping, just loaded to NX2.3.1.

Great Kiskadee with a 1280mm lens + beanbag:

D7000 + Nikkor 800mm f/5.6 ais EDIF + TC16A + Beanbag + 3 burst shots. The bird was at ~ 18m.
Though support was not ideal for a 1280mm telephoto, a burst of 3 shots/second produced at least one sharp image.
