...some old stuff...I don't know if this has been posted before but anyway, it's here.

Both were shot on a my D1. The first one was on a Nikkor 35mm f2 nonAi with my usual home made lighting kit...the 2nd was on a Carl Zeiss 80mm Planar f2.8. There were no PS botox manipulations() or cropping on both shots, only dust playboy(bunny) cleaning...

Garry, the local paper ran a shot near-identical to your baby-in-the-leaves shot, and except for a small hat, the children even looked similar... very cute shot by the way. Apparently the photo was from Alberta... where you at? Your photo?

Ha ha...yes I seen that too. No it wasn't my photo in the paper but very similar indeed. Even the babies ages were the same. By the angle of the sun the newspaper photo was taken later in the day so it was probably from the same pile of leaves my granddaughter was in a few hours earlier. Those newspaper reporters...always skulking around stealing others ideas. I'm in Medicine Hat. What paper did you see it in?

Something NOT so local... the Guelph Mercury... Guelph, ONT...

Good photos travel fast... even if they're stolen from good FM members!

Carl,

Going with that post in the center is gutsy, but I like it in this case because of the way it forces me to interact with the other elements in the image. I also like the B&W conversion with smooth tonal transitions.

Gutsy but effective! I like it. Both shots are excellent.

Carl, I'm glad you didn't want to get this thread off the first page, because they are two really excellent shots. (Ok, so I just noticed Andre posted that above )

I just had a look over at Canon to see how their "Best Canon shot" thread was going. Damn , they've got some good stuff in there. I recommend people just over and have a look.

We need to rally the troops and post a few more pics here!

...Yep agree, like I said before, at Flickr, most of the best and stunning shots were taken with a Canon and almost all mediocre shots were on Nikon, which is true by the way. And if you check the Nikon guys at Flickr, most of them are just plain gearheads, which is pretty much the same at FM .

...the train shots were AWESOME at the Canon forum specially at page 16, which can be viewed here: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/577646/15. I think the Nikon Best shots are more on quantity rather than quality and is the other way on the Canon Best shots.

There are more creative artists in the Canon side compared to the stupendous amount of gearheads at the Nikon forum, ...sorry guys, but it's true...makes me feel out of place really .

The train shots are really nice, but guess I'll disagree with you a bit there Rey. So many of the photos I've seen here have been fantastic.

Have to agree, Rey: Those Canon shots are jaw droppingly good. Maybe it's a function of the larger user base of Canon's or, as you say, they're artists more than gear-heads. Whatever it is, WOW!!!
