hi i'm back from my trip. ready to sort out a shipload of holiday snapshots. I'm sure that there are some awesome photo's hidden in there, but i like to share this one right away.
Look at her technique, i also love the bag, what is that? a new sort of lowe slingshot? A real must have.

All shot today (D700 with 35 F2D, 50 1.8D and the 85 1.8D i.e all the 'consumer grade lenses' ). Apetures were darn close to wide open i.e either wide open or f2.2. Please excuse the smallish thumbnails. I prefer sharing small rather than bigger pics. Bigger versions are at my www.

Gregory - Unfortunately for your other lenses that fall within the 70-200 range they are now going to have some long and dark days ahead. Great lens....which reminds me I need to use mine more.

Hehe, I doubt it I'm still a sucker for light weight primes. I mostly got it for the luxury of having a lens longer than 85mm and faster than f4.5-5.6 (70-300VR) and even now that I've got the VRII, I'm having a hard time about whether I'll keep the 70-300, but it's just so light xD

I hear you on the 70-300.....excellent performer for the price. Got me (actually, my wife) shots like this (while the 70-200 sat home) while on vacation:
