antifreeze of course...block heaters are a bonus but not required, last year it got down below minus 40 here for a couple days and if your car was parked outside it wasn't gonna start without a block heater. Oil is just normal, 10w30 5w30 whatever the manual calls for. Cars are remarkably capable of dealing with cold...minus 30 is usually no problem.

Us folks here in Southern Ontario don't usually have block heaters in our cars because it gets to minus 30 only a few times in the winter. Windshield cleaner fluid that can go to -40C is also useful for those slushy days.

BTW Go4Long, your image is not showing up

See, the way it works is that if you have a single-car garage, then you will use it for storage. If you have a dual car garage, you might have space in there for one car Me, my cars have always been out. Clean off snow (including the roof), scrape off ice, start up and off you go. I got snow tires last year and it made a huge difference. My previous car was very heavy so that normal all-seasons were fine.

yeah...I drive a 2wd truck...so I'm all about the winter tires
My truck is in the garage all year round...during the winter when it gets particularly cold I'll park it in a heated parkade when I'm working nights...

I dunno why it's not showing up avi it's linked from my smugmug site.

Thanks, cocoaa. Lack of comment leaves people sort of spitting in the wind. You know...is it so marvelous that it is beyond the power of words, or is it so terrible that no one feels the need to say anything?

I'm glad you like it. It's one of those shots that can't be planned. Again, thanks.
