Yup 10mp. It does work and not a gimmick. The tonal gradations definitely look better at 10mp and NX2 does a really great job interpolating whatever it does .

This was shot last night with my d40x at my cabin. It was an amazing storm and I totally lucked out with this shot. This picture has also not been altered at all.

Your pics always have nice warmth and good saturation. The D1x was truly well ahead of it's time with that 10Meg mode!
Mocca, she's the sweetest cat, now, don't let the look fool you I had plenty of scars from her when she was a kitten though. Her only danger is to mice.
