Nice shot, Oasisbill! Not sure if I am just tired today or what, but it almost looks 3-dimensional to me (in other words, it has a great sense of depth), very cool!
Thank you for the warm welcome, and I'm very glad you liked my shot!
GREAT shot, Oasisbill! I love the composition and color! I practically got a chill from the fall breeze.
Anyone else use manual glass on Nikon's "less than pro" bodies? I find that I get amazing results that I haven't gotten since my early film days on my Nikkormat FT-N when I slap old glass on my D40! They don't make 'em like they used to... My two old favorite lenses are my pre-AI 50mm f/1.4 and 105mm f/2.5. Classic look and feel, and tack-sharp performance 40+ years after they were manufactured!!!
Here's another favorite of mine from a shoot in the past year. Nikon D40 throw-around camera with a 105mm f/2.5 pre-AI, (manual exposure while checking the histogram... good glass doesn't always need metering with digital in fixed lighting situations!) I probably shot wide open or somewhere below f/4 for this shot. Natural lighting, with a 50/50 silver/gold reflector to subject's right. No post production other than resizing.
Yet another with the amazing and ever-capable 105mm f/2.5. Wide-open at f/2.5 aperture, natural light with a 50/50 reflector in front of the subject under the camera's vantage point. Nikon circular polarizer used as well, if I recall correctly.
Sorry to double post, but I've been looking through this thread since I found it, and I like going back through it from time to time for inspiration in my own work, and I just noticed something familiar...
The URL for both images is identical, FYI.
Just wondering/sharing... Plagirism is lame, and it denies people the recognition they oft deserve for their creative work.
Think its the same guy. Both called Bill, both in Australia, both musicans. Different lens listed for the shots though. Guess he forgot his password or username or something!

Hi Jason,
Thanks for pointing that out. I just explained above that I forgot my username and password, so I re-enlisted, so to speak, and ALSO forgot I'd already posted this pic... AND wrote the wrong lens to boot... They are both me though, so not to worry...
