Hi Gaylon,
Lots of things down under are different. Our poisonous (Extremely poisonous) snakes have blunt / square faces and non venomous are pointy. That little dude looks like he is a pointy. So how close are you or were you hypnotising him just to be on the safe side??
Howdy Tim,
We in the States cannot compete with the number of venomous serpent species when compared to Australia! This snake is nonvenomous and common animal, genus Thamnophis, often referred to as Garter snakes. This picture was taken at the minimum focus distance of the 70-300VR; about 1.5 metres.
I had the animal completely under my control using the old Aussie technique I learned while watching 'Crocodile Dundee'

I like the first one alot, I thik the second one is a bit soft and over exposed.
Thanks! I'll go back and look at the histogram on the second one. The first one was my personal favorite, but for some reason, the second one was far more popular. Guess it's true that people like bright shiny things.
Taken for a promo flyer for an upcoming hair design show at a local salon. All SB-800's controlled by a SU-800 on my D300 with the help of a Bogen D600, that's the 411.
This thing is an amazing studio camera. I loves it.
