It is a good thing Nikon's flash system doesn't suck.

for the record 62 out of 82 pulitzer Price winning photograph taken from 1963 to 2004 have been captured by world class photographer using Nikon Cameras, That's more than 75% and exceeeds the total for all other brands combined
Also most of National Geographic Photographer and PhotoJournalist Photographer Prefer to shoot Nikon I don't know why? Must be that piece of glass...
also I've heard the reason why Canon uses a white color in their piece of glass is beacuse of the flourite used and the lens need to be cooled or it could crack in heat and we all know (I think most of us) that black absorb heat....
Oh well I love Black....
I think I should stop now before I filled this reply too much about Nikon.....
so there you go proven time and time over and over
IMHO I think Nikon Focuses in their fine Optics while the other brand focuses on the printer and copier machine...
Go Nikon Go
Kindly Regards
BTW get rid of your 20D and 10D so you can get a real PRO Body like MARK III that you were very proud of

Well, it is great news, no doubt about it, because extra competition means lower prices for all. That said, a 1.13x crop does not equal FF.

This was a must have feature last week, now its yesterdays news. Sure. Now you'll be telling Nikon you don't want the pin stripes and sassy pink colouring.
Man, those fluffy dice were MY idea But I was expecting some support.
Now, I'm not so sure about the pink. Metallic blue on the other hand...
Well, we'll know soon enough. I'd like to be more hopeful (fingers crossed), but time is growing short and most pre-PMA announcements will be made by early next week. Has Nikon waited until the last minute in recent years?

I bet that Nikon will not announce anything at PMA, let alone a camera. The last time there was this much hype that's exactly what happened. They'll release it when they're good and ready, and when they do, I bet it'll be GREAT!

well if the 28 1.4d was 1800 bucks, the 20 will probably come in around 2800... ouch
It would be more expensive because it's a new design, not because it's more complicated to make than the 28. It would relate to that lens like the 17-55 relates to the 28-70. It's just DX vs. FF.
If I would buy it? Of course I would. On my list, new, fast primes have much higher priority than any D3, 4, 5, 6 or 7.
I, and most other photographers, will be able to make much better photos with a D40 and a top lens, than with a D-whatever and a lousy lens. We all know that of course, but still, we are hanging out in these forums, discussing if or when that cool new D3XLR will appear, next to the sun, during sunrise.

the body (whatever it is film or camera) only records what the lenses see

I must admit that I don't care much about what cameras were used to win prizes in the past. I do care, however, about what camera and lenses I will use to take photos with tomorrow and next years. After DX was launched, Nikon has some big holes in the lens line-up. It would be very nice to see them filled.

IMHO that where Nikon Excel
Isn't that because Nikon was so dominant in the 60s, 70s, and into the 80s? On hopes the Pulitzer committee members weren't influenced by the brand, and image quality is not always the primary criteria. I felt more confident an F series camera and drive, like one could clonk an antagonist on the head and get away unscathed.
A point one could argue about the D40 is opportunities missed due to lack of AF.

The fact that the winners are "world class photographers" is the very reason they won the Pulitzer. The gear they used may be seen as a contributing factor, but it certainly isn't the reason they won. I'm sure that each of these winners could capture the same stunning moments, regardless of which brand of gear they are using.

Funny you should mention that. I believe there's a cave light setting on the new camera. Apparently firmware updates are in works for all the older bodies too to make them compatible.
And here I thought with Nikon finally releasing some nice new products they'd be coming out of the dark ages, not going back in.
Sorry, couldn't resist after that "snotty Canon" comment
