Well, not this newspaper --- they have way too much money invested in Nikon gear, they supply camera's to the staff, and they will be Nikon. I was assured by one of the guys.
So go ahead - try breaking my bubble. It won't work, I put my sheilds up, and I am outta this galaxy at warp speed......
zooooooooom...........
Same with one of the two majors in Vancouver. All Nikon .... all the way. Go figure.
suppose this 'rumour' is true.. 20mp on a h-camera? what will an x bring us? 30mp? nah...
and i just can't believe nikon is going to bring us a serious camera shooting at least 8fps on that resolution. not even in hsc mode it will still be eh at least 12mp? neh... c'mon... really?
oh well i'm switching.. no matter what they bring me...
I definately would not buy a 30MP camera. For me, it would be counter-productive for the shooting I do , considering the sizes I print. I'd be wasting my money. If I needed this sort of thing, I'd get a Pentax 645 Digital thats just been announced as coming in PMA.
I'm sure there are poeple who would actually get benefit from this. Professionals that require large ....LARGE.... files. Amateurs who want to use one 28mm lens, then you could just crop everything.
i'd love a 6mp size, maybe slightly larger but max 8mp. that's really enough for the things i shoot and print. and i allready have 8fps, i never use that (well never say never hm). I also never shoot in a cave... here in holland we don't have cave-like-lit icehockey halls either... Somehow i manage to shoot only well lit weddings. I'd like to shoot a gothic one in a cave once but i doubt i ever will...
hm suppose i use a vr lens and my shutterspeeds drops to 1/8 seconds during a wedding in a cave... that's nice, but how will i be able to shoot at 10-15fps?
we are so lucky we can bump the iso to 12800
So, Nikon will release a new body in the 18-20MP range. If they do, it will cost a gazillion dollars. If you don't believe me check out a PhaseOne back. But I really doubt it will be such a big jump, if we judge by what the 1DIII has in the MP department.

Guys go take a look at RayGay's (hope it is that way around) macros on his flickr site.
Heaps of thought gone into the making!
Cheers,

he must be one of the photogs shooting with a beta version of the D3! those images are incredible and it's just impossible to make these with anything else.
It is obvious that if Canon debutes the Mk III Nikon should have an answer for that. The D3 series is a rumor but it could be close to reality in March at Las Vegas.
Technology is going so fast that we have no time to reach it. What appears to be tops today could easily be "obsolete" tomorrow and that is driving prices down; good for us consumers.
I am sure professionals await news from Nikon. I am sure many amateurs await news from Nikon. People like me await news from previous camera owners that want the most modern and the best and are going to sell their still new cameras. I continue to sustain that "technology helps, but it does not take pictures." Like most of you I am also fascinated by the new technologies but I am not the first to be in line to buy one of those beauties; it is simply not my nature.
Anyway, we all win. Those who want a brand new camera will have it and those who do not mind using something a couple of years old will have it too.
Nikon have commited themselves to the DX format. It could be interesting watching their venture into the so called "full frame."
The future looks brighter for digital!

not that i'll be buying one in this deccade, but i hope they've solved the light fall off and CA issues assoiated with larger sensors using 135mm format lenses. but at these resolutions and rumors of 8 new lenses there could be a new mount to solve the two mentioned isssues, either that or maby they've a new concaved sensor ;o)
