What I am curious about is why a megahouse like B&H doesn't have them. After all, they are the biggest store in the world and tend to get the other goodies at launch day, too...

That's the problem...they're big so they seem to get their large shipments later than the small independents for the first batch of lenses or accessories. I've had better luck getting early equipment from other shops. 24-105, 5D, battery grips and the Sigma SD14.

Mine was shipped today from Prophotosupply. I am out of town early next week so i told them to ship it ground. I could have paid alot for overnight and got it tomorrow but I am not in an urgent hurry. If it comes on Monday might get to test a bit before heading to the east coast for 2 days

Funny, they were the place where I could get my 1Ds2 and D60 the day they shipped. And for those of you who remember, the D60 was the hardest camera to get, maybe ever!

Oh well, I am in no big hurry.
I think the big stores get "backlogged" and often have the latest shippments stacked away for some time in receiving before they get around to it. Many people pre-order from Adorama and find they can get the same item sooner from their neighborhood shop.

The other issue is that since Passover is starting soon, Adorama and BH will be closed for a number of days and they probably do not want angry folks who order and miss the ship deadline and do not get their lens before the holiday break.

Mine will be here tomorrow...but I've already sold my mk I. So I won't be able to a direct comparison. Hopefully I can get some time this weekend to do some shooting.... If so, I'll try to put them up somewhere and post a link.

I remember the D60 story.. People were selling them for almost 2x their store price.

Any kind of "real-world" comparison with the Oly 21/3.5 would be greatly appreciated. If I can replace my Oly and Zeiss glass with this new zoom for backpacking I'll be ecstatic.

For your sake I hope that you can easily see the difference without pixel peeping. As I read the MTF charts the greatest improvement is stopped down. Good luck!
