Just called calumet and they just told me now that they don't have me on the list to be shipped after they told me that I was getting one..If I never called them they probably would have not told me..Now they said I will make the second list for sure..Disappointed!! I was looking forward to it and I even called twice to confirm and went to the store to confirm that is was coming next week before I canceled my other preorders which I did already did..I even went to the store to meet the lady I spoke with but she was busy but they did tell me it was coming in..I guess next time I need to make sure I get some sort of confirmation..O well.....Show more →
I *ALMOST* had the same problem. The San Diego store took my order on Feb 23rd, but totally pooched it. I called the Chicago store about a dozen times confirming my order, but it wasnt until last Monday that a sales guy there told me I wasn't going to get one because of how my order was set up. Took about 30 minutes, but he fixed it and I got it from UPS this morning. I LOVE the rental counter (Scott) in San Diego, but the rest of the place can be hit or miss.

So ... has anyone who has ordered from Tallyn's heard from them since the camera started shipping?
No, but I'm only 4 numbers ahead of you on the list. I saw a post on one of the forums saying that they only recieved two cameras so far.
I called this morning to add a hand-strap to my order. But was told that I would have to get with Scott to do that because Scott had all of the 1D3 info, The guy told me to just email my request to Scott,.and said that Scott was away for the holiday and wouldn't be back to the store until Tuesday.
I just got the call saying to come and pick up my Mark III. I was number one at Kenmore Camera in the Seattle area, and they recieved some today. I could not talk them into telling me how many they got, but I will try again when I pick it up. I am looking forward to exploring this camera, and should be able to try it on some action shots of flying aircraft tomorrow.
In addition to the powerful tool that I expect the Mark III will be, I really enjoy the technology and its integration into such a functionl package. I admit fully that is part of why I "must have" one.

well thatsw ok news. As I will be out of town, I finally get to see Bodie. I sure wish I had the camera before then but oh well. Now I have something to look forward to when I get back
If you're talking about Bodie CA, I envy you. I went up there once on my Motorcycle. That is a place where you really need a good camera. "Goodbye God...We're going to Bodie" as the little girl said in 1849! Well worth the trip!
Back to Tallyn's and the 1D3, I also remember reading a forum post somewhere that stated that they ordered 150 of the cameras!!!
I hope they are delivering these weekly, not biweekly or monthly.
And I would hate to be the one at the factory who was given a CF card a while ago and told to update the firmware in all of the cameras waiting to ship.

Ok. Thanks for the information.
Funny. I had no problem waiting as long as they weren't shipping, but now they are, I want it yesterday.
I just came home from a nice family dinner. As I was leaving the restaurant, I overheard a man talking about how ridiculous Adorama was that he was very high on their preorder list yet he doesn't have his camera yet. I started to laugh, it was really funny. The guy he was with said he had just gotten his camera from Ritz and I was ready go to talk to him, even though I shoot Nikon I would lieke to check one out
I freely admit to being completely under the spell of a Mark III. As I type this, I am fondling one with my other hand. It really is a very special thing. I have no idea yet if it takes pictures, but boy is it nice to touch. I have only had it for a few hours now, and have no idea how long my whole mind will be overwhelmed by the power it has. And I wish this was a joke response, but it is not.
She really is quite beautiful. And she now knows that she was a number one at my local dealer, which has her purring a little. I have only tried a 10 frame per second burst once so far, and the sound she made was so fantastic that I could hardly stand it. I should perhaps set her to a lower rate, and work my way up slowly to maximum.
