Jody at Robert's Imaging. They have gotten me all my other stuff fast and have never been wrong before. He says not till late May, not in volume till July. I hope you're right and I'm wrong but we'll know in a few days.
For those that have shot with the D3; Any thoughts on how much PP sharpening pics require due to the camera's aa filter? I guess the real question is what's your best guess as to how the D3's aa filter compares in strength to that of the 2N - Stronger? Weaker?

Very good question.
I would really like to know this as well.
Just got off the phone with Canon regarding price and availability of the 1D Mark III. I was told that distribution to the stores will start on April 15 and shortly after that they will be in the stores. She also said that the price set by Canon is $3999.99 but what it actually sells for is in the hands of the retailer. Believe it or not...who knows. Just thought I would pass it along.

I called few mins ago as well, to order a flash part, transfered to another rep who told me same thing.
I really hope April 15 is true also. I am number one at a local dealer that has come through early for me on two previous new Canon cameras. And I have a major photo trip planned starting late in April, that I really want the MK III for. I can live with a $4500 price, but delivery is key for me right now.
I received a voice message from Hunt Photo indicating that Canon had set the price on the 1D3. It was too late to call back to find out how much they were willing to sell it at. I'll call in the morning.

Here is a link to some guy in Taiwan who got a sample to play with. Didn't really test the picture quality, but for people who are interested,
Just got a message from my local dealer - stock arriving at this part of the world around June only (apparently got production delay). Street price around RM 13,500 - RM 13,900 (US$ 3,857 - US$ 3,971 (US$ 1 = RM 3.5)), which is even lower than the price in the white paper!! Its tax free and my dealer is willing to give me the same price regardless if I pay cash or card!!
Now, how do I tell my wife about this.. My birthday is in July though.. Hmmmm...
I have a question regarding memory cards... would we notice a difference in camera shooting performance between different cards e.g. SanDisk III an Sandisk IV?
I assume you see a difference in camera download but was wondering if with the new processors we would expect a performance improvement?
Thanks
Hunt's Price is set at $4,399 according to an email I just got from them. No word on availability.
I just talked to B&H Pro Sales and they said they are still not accepting Pre-Orders, but that the price is set at $4,495. Availability sometime in May.
I still have an order pending with Calumet (back from when it was going to ship in 36 hours a few weeks ago) and their price is $4,499 availability 4-6 weeks.
I was on the phone with Canon today. Suggested Retail Price here in the states is $4,495. The woman who I spoke with was quite certain this was the set price. She also stated that the camera would be available starting in May.

Any guesses how much, if any, the street price will differ from SRP?

I am wondering if it is one Canon USA or two companies, we are dealing with.
