I got to try out a mark 3 today and I am kind of pissed. Don't get me wrong the thing was awesome but I shoot with two cameras alot now a 20d and a mark 2 what i want is two camera that operate exactly the same so switching between them is no problem. But as I held the mark 3 I realized that I will have the same issues as with the 20d. so I guess until I can afford 2 mark 3's I will have to buy a mark 2 or 2n so I can have some continuity in my lineup. Does anyone else see this or feel the same way

Yeah the same issues as far as grabbing the other camera and not having the same controls on the camera. All of the buttons are different. It may not seem like a big deal but there are times when seconds count and if you have to think about it you missed it.

I think after 2 or 3 days you will be as fast as before, the menu of Mark II and 20D are very different

It is not so much the menu as the actual buttons on the camera. I can operate the mark2 without looking. And when I only used 20d's I could operate them without looking but when you have two different layouts it takes time to do the same things.

I know what you mean and I don't want to go there again. I have the 1DsMKII and 1DMKIIn and although one is a FF and the other is a crop the controls are the same. Which one I use is determine on the lens mounted.

If I decide to get a 1DMKIII that will interfere with that congruency because I would have to sell one to purchase it. I'm not sure I would be happy with two 1DMKIII and no FF camera.

1D Mark III + 1Ds Mark II is actually what I have in my sights. 1DsMkIII will probably have to wait till the Mark IV comes out. ;-)

Having to keep the different buttons straight will be a good mental exercise to help stave off Alzheimer's.

As to the differences between cameras, I've decided to go for 2 MIII's for just that issue. I currently use a MII and a 5d, ocasionally a 1d classic (sounds better than Mark I). It's a PITA swapping between them, even down to the processing afterwards as the images need different "tweeking" as the sharpness is different etc.

Talking to Jody at Roberts Imaging, says Canon is supposed to ship in highly limited quantity near the end of May. If you're not real early on the list, July is what to hope for. Supposedly all the pros are upgrading so all newspapers, magazines, Getty, etc. are getting the bluk of the first shipment. Ughhh!

It's bad enough that I'll miss spring bird migration but July means missing Formula 1 in June.
