well i just placed in order with calumet...lets see if they really ship it off or not, they said it is a 50/50 shot of it going out this friday, so i guess we will see.
My contact at Samy's in Los Angeles indicates the price to be about $4500 US. Samy's often has holiday sales where they use promotional money to save the customers sale's tax.

Yeah, but the problem is that the price is not yet established, may be $4K or more, $4500. If is going to be $4500 -->> 3.500€ aprox.. For that price I am not going to NYC, I shall buy in EU and get an EU warranty too.

You really should not complain about the prices. I just got the price for it here ind Denmark. So far the cheapest price I can get in Denmark is what equals 5355$
I can almost take a plane to the use and back again and still save money on the camera.
Dilivery time here is set to mid april and they normally stick to their delivery dates.
I bookmarked the page on their site with the original Chuck Westfall interview. This page allows one to click on a link for updated stock info. Yesterday the resulting pop-up window said March 23rd for "in warehouse" in Chicago. That date has now been changed to May 15th.
I was just curious if you could send me that link. I've looked all over the site and haven't seen it. I ordered mine awhile back and don't really care if it gets here next week or next month but I do like to keep track of it's development.
Interesting for the date change because I think in the past Canon was close on their shipping dates. I wonder if they are having some production problems.
I just got off a chat with Calumet and they verified they were quoted that date by Canon and they are usually spot on but for some reason they pushed the date. They said it could shift forward to a more middle number though depending on Canon.
The main reason I wanted to "try" it out was that I haven't been able to find any good info about the "silent" mode, so that was the first thing I tried .. and guess what - it really does make a difference!
The fact that it does "slap" the mirror back down untill you release the shutter button again is brilliant!
The also said that they would be hitting the danish shops come start may!
(let's hope they get a lot)
Also the new navigation is VERY different from the old mk2 but after 5 min of intense play I'm convinced it's all for the better
i'm guessing that canon could release them in a few weeks in limited quantity or they could release them in may and fulfill everyone's order at once with a few to spare. it wouldn't surprise me if major news/pj companies get the first batch in a few weeks and consumers get them in may.

Click on the square button in the player so you won't have to listen to Westfall again.
Then click on "Stock Info for EC2780" and you get a pop up box that shows arrival date in Chicago Warehouse and at the bottom, the time page was last updated.
