I don't think this is accurate. More sharpening is added to the live view display, but I've seen no evidence in my files. It doesn't make sense that the actual files would be changed.
7) You will get a little shutter lag. You hear 2 shutter sounds even though one picture is taken.
The shutter closes, opens, (exposes), closes, then opens. The mirror stays up the whole time.
From my testing this seems to counter camera shake as much as MLU. When you fire a burst the mirror doesn't flap between exposures... it seems like the burst speed may be faster in this mode but I have not measured it.

I would add it is extremely easy to manual focus in live view. Actvating LV makes the set button a MLU button, the only possible downside is heating the sensor.
I also posted somewhere that LV can be used to do light amplification in dark situations. Should be good for correct focus under some very low light conditions.
Fred says 'more sharpening to file', I believe it's just on the LCD.
Good points. I think LV will be great for macro and the limitations won't be an issue. It would be fun to try it with TS lenses! I just got the camera today and will run a few tests on it. I read on the manual that more sharpening would be applied when zooming. I'm glad it's only a preview effect. Thanks for letting me know!

One other point on LV...I plan on using it for astrophotography (on occasion). I am hoping that it will make focusing through a telescope a breeze. Now if I only had my Mark III...still waiting...patiently.
I hadn't thought to push the info button in LV. The live histogram is cool. I don't know if I'll put a TS lens on this camera, but on the 1DIII, LV plus a lens with movements should be very accurate. I miss focus a lot with a TS on my 5D.
I wonder if some people will find that looking at the LCD is good for complex compositions.

Perhaps watch Nova and pretend you are focusing until the camera comes?
LV actually makes fine focusing fun, as opposed to using the angle finder or guessing. Does LV have output that can be hooked to a laptop?
Aperture Users rejoice...I have it on good authority that the next OS X update will suppport the Mark III, so Aperture will be able to properly open your files. Apparently the latest developer seed fixed the issues that were occurring with the mark III files (they were opening 1-2 stops overexposed in the first seed) and they now open as shot.
B&H Has them! Phone order only right now, but they got a few in! I think the guy said 5 to be exact, but I can't remember perfectly....
