The 2n and 3n bodies are listed at the same price on the Australian Canon web site. Not sure which model but Aussie was the first release of one of them about 18mths ago
What a joke. No 40D. I'm shocked. How could Canon not have the ability to compete directly with the D200? What are they thinking? I think this proves that the D200 totally caught Canon with their pants down; a mistake that they will be paying the price of for years to come.
I hope we will hear from Canon again in the next days, concerning a 40D or else, it would be a big shock for me and everyone else. I seriously need to update. The 30D is just too close to the 350D.
yea.......me too. I have owned the 1DSMK ll since it came out (replaced my 1DS)
I have to say this MKlll is very impressive. I need two 1series bodies & this is so tempting, epecially at the low price point.............However, if this is what they are coming up with in this unit what sort of monster can we expect in September. I will take a deep breath & try to hang out a little longer.

Given the coolness of all features, I'm not conviced it is worth the cost to upgrade from a lowly 1D2..... but ISO 6400 not bad
Im suprised this time round there weren't any leaks before the offical Canon press release. Theres still 2 weeks till PMA so who knows what else Canon has to offer.

As was pre-photokina, Tsiphoto from dpreview was dead on with predictions that were made a couple days ago.
what a nice wake up! just been reading the white paper on the 1dIII as well as the info on the new 580ex II. very nice, bit outwith my budget but a nice camera which should make a lot of sports pros and PJ very happy.
Unfortunately or as usual some of the gear heads on here are a bit dissapointed about the specs because it hasn't got 50 mega pixels, 20 frames in raw, in camera IS, and will whinge for weeks how canon will lose market share to Nikon because it doesn't compete with the D200. Maybe if they would take the time to read the white paper and discover the new features of the camera they would realise that this is a fantastic bit of gear which beats most cameras hands down without even trying.
And I'm pretty sure that this isn't everything canon is about to announce over the next few days
New sensor is actually smaller than before and is now a 1.28x sensor and thus if the new sensor was the same size as before it would have 10.5MP, not 10.1MP.

I don't doubt, this 1D Mk3 will become the new reference for sport and nature photography. I think they will sell lots of them to photojournalists and amateurs of these domaines (nature, sport).
Sadly, as some of you, it's not the model I was waiting for...
But if they put out a 5D Mk2 with the same viewfinder, same new AF system, a 12-16Mpix FF sensor, Digic III and 4-5 fps, I will be the happier man in the world! (and let the built-in grip and 22Mpix for the 1Ds3)
Anyone noticed that the Live View only supports manual focusing?
Focusing is manual only with Live View. Use the Multi-Controller to select the AF point aimed over the area you want to focus, then press the Magnify button to enlarge the image by 5x or 10x at the AF point's position. Press the button again to return to normal view. At 5x or 10x magnification, you can focus manually while looking at the LCD monitor. To make it easier to focus during the magnified view, image sharpness is applied at a higher setting than it really is.
