So why isn't Canon hasn't made telescopes? Seems like it would be an easy product line for them to add and who would not want an 8" Canon 2000mm Schmitt Cassegrain Telescope? Could be the birth of a new legend. Plus it would useful for finding bunnies on Saturn.
In a way they have.
There is an planet-finder telescope which uses 8 Canon 200/1.8L lenses. Check out this site. It's called the SuperWASP.
I don't see the use of SC telescopes from Canon. They are mirrors mosly anyway. What I do like is the 20DA with a less strong IR filter. It does wonders. I never felt the urge to buy one. I might want one some day, a nice FF one for wide angles.
I would like to hear more lens rumours. I am hypnotised with EosFUN's 12-something EF lens about a 100 pages back. If it is not an L it's probably not worthy to look at wrt flare, vignetting etc. Heck, if the new bodies are FF then my good ol' 20-35/2.8L is back in the game. Still a 12-24or30ish mm/2.8L would be on my wish list.

Btw I shot Saturn and the Moon very close to eachother a couple of weeks ago, click here
(1Dmk2,500/4, stacked 1.4X and 2.0x, 2exposures stacked to overcome the brightness difference of ~5stops)
Very cool shots! Is the strange circle around Saturn due to the 2 exposures?
Geeze, what have you guys been smoking? Stopped being funny a few pages back...
It's been awfully quiet and it's kind of scary... Just a few days left and nothing?
I can't believe there is no pdf's, no cell phone/spy pictures, nothing...

Here is a rumor (probably about third hand).

He said that he heard that they would not be unveiling any new DSLRs before August. He then said that he never believes the rumors until they are facts (including this one).
I sincerely hope he is wrong.
I sincerely hope he is wrong, too. If Canon doesn't unveil something (hell, anything), I fear the firestorm that will create among their faithful. And no more vaporware releases like the Canon M80 and M30, which will probably never be sold.
I'd like to see the proof that Canon is announcing anything on 2/20. I still haven't seen it, so I'm wondering can anyone point me to an OFFICIAL canon website notice of the event? I don't believe there really is anything right now and just because everybody tells each other the same story doesn't make it true. It's fascinating thought how many people are counting on learning something in 4 more days. It would be nice, but sadly I don't think so.
My view is that if Canon has held out this long there are two possible solutions -
1) There's absolutely nothing to tell and PMA will = PK, an unmitigated and boring bust
or
2) Canon can, and will continue, to keep their secrets until PMA (a "40d" falls into the "who cares" category too if any of the rumors are right as far as I'm concerned. i.e., a 10MP upgrade with little else).
The rumors regarding 2/20 are about a sales rep meeting. Why would a sales rep or any other Canon employee meeting be on a public website? That doesn't make any sense at all.

Well given the sales director of a large UK dealer asked me if I was going to an event in the UK, I'm tending to assume that it might well exist... :-)

I agree, I will be one of them (I got my first Canon SLR in 1989)
Really? So the 5D you can get for around $2100 and the 1dm2 you can get used for $2300 are somehow junk? The boatload of glass you already own is no good? Let's be realistic - where are you going to go? The D200 is competition for the 30D and there are some nice $1000 crop DSLR's, but what do think you are going to buy from someone else that's better than Canon's high end gear? They OWN the sports, PJ, portrait, and just about every other DSLR pro market. That's not a coincidence.

That is why they are becoming arrogant. I may agree with what you said but I do not like what they have been doing lately. As a matter of fact I have already sold quite a bit of my Canon equipment and just waiting another month or so.

Well Michael it looks like with what you have already decided to make a switch, so that won't be hard. Why did you choose to sell all of your existing digital bodies, and your stable of lenses?
