Beautiful images in this thread enough to publish a calendar. I have difficulty picking an image I like from my work this year, I think I could have done better.
Here is one of the better images I have shot this year. Hope you guys enjoy it and happy holidays to all
The photographs here are simply stunning. I'm amazed at the special talent displayed, and appreciative of the willingness of contributors to share. As an amateur, I've learned a lot about technique from even the shortest commentary here -- these lessons are very much appreciated. Especially enjoyed have been the super photographs from abroad, reminding me of the beauty of our world. And I've certainly enjoyed those showing the vast, varying climates and zones of North America.
Here's my favorite of the year... a dirt road heading to Ka'ena Point, O'ahu, Hawai'i. It was a rainy day, and chilly by Hawai'i standards (about 73 degrees F). The sky didn't cooperate. I was surprised my pickup truck made it, as tricked-out Jeeps and SUVs were turning back in droves owing to the rain, deep potholes and mud. Nice truck, good truck--there's something to be said for a manual transmission. Along the way, there were native Hawai'ians parked down by the shore, tents set up, for a weekend of fishing and relaxing. But the waves weren't much for surfing.
What a calendar this thread would make... I'll add the only landscape that I photographed this year... and it was just 3 1/2 weeks ago on my way home with my new 17-55. Happpy Holdays everyone.
