Y'all are probably aware that our thread dropped a bunch of images again. I spent a couple of hours trying to figure out what went where but only got through 43 or so pages. Unless someone changes something in the structure of the site, it'll probably drop them again shortly. I'll work on reconstructing the thread for now and we'll see what happens. The posts without images doesn't tell our continuing story very well.
You probably already have a solution for this - but may I suggest adding the page number to the file name of each image and keeping screen resolution copies in a separate folder on your HD to refer to easily. If this keeps up - you may really think about publishing this thread somehow - with permissions and all - so we can all buy a hard copy.
That might be a good idea. I wonder how we would go about that? I got a PM this morning from Imager993, Aaron, who, it turns out is a gifted special effects technician for the motion picture industry, among other talents, and he has some great ideas we're exploring. Our thread is too great to have it implode, we'll figure out something.
This is probably the very most enjoyed/amazing thread i've had the vast pleasure to enjoy.
I greatly hope that it can be repaired/continue.
Please, keep us posted, and if anyone can help, . . . well, if there is anythiing I can do, let me know.
Bob.
I just found this photo slideshow on msnbc's week in pictures. Kinda upsetting, but an arieal image, none the less. Thought that you might appricate; Msnbc link
Man - that is just tragic - while the photo is newsworthy in our stare at the wreck culture, and technically well done - the subject matter is so alarming and horrible that I wish I hadn't seen it. I guess that means it went way beyond necessary. At least for me.
I had my web Guru in today for a few hours, thought I might as well get up to speed on Dreamweaver and Final Cut Studio at the same time! He took a look at our thread and said it's a fatal flaw in the site design or server and we'll continue to lose large numbers of images. Haven't gotten positive (or any) feedback from admin on our plight. I'm afraid this might be the death knell for our great thread. While most of us now go to the last page, new folks aren't going to stay up all night reading early posts with no images. I love getting those posts and e-mails from people who just couldn't stop and then realized at page 165 that it was 3 am and they had 100 pages to go. You guys are stellar, both in spirit and talent and no matter what happens to our thread, it's a privilege to know and be known by each and every one of you! We'll see what happens.
Thanks Wade! Glad you're enjoying it. A number of people have e-mailed me regarding purchasing prints. Limited edition Ciba prints can be ordered directly from me. Very nice quality, less expensive prints can be ordered from the growing gallery at: http://jimwilsonphotography.smugmug.com/gallery/3109010
anyone happen to know how many B-24's are still flying? I just had a wonderful conversation with my wife's grandfather who was a nose gunner on a 24 flying out of Italy during ww2.
Been following this thread for quite sometime. And thanks for responding to me on email quite a few months back. Hope you'd be happy to check out my latest stuff on my website.
