Thanks! Do you live closer to the San Augustine area? I've got a Buddy over there who would be a good source for that ride.

Thanks Jim! I thought you might be tapped into the T-6 crowd. It looks like St. Augustine is farther from my Dad in Ft Lauderdale than Stallion 51 is in Kissimmee. So I wonder if there is anything, say, in the range of West Palm Beach down to Miami and the Keys. I live in Indiana but I'll be visiting Mom and Dad in Florida over the Dec/Jan holidays.

Jon,
In Miami you might try the Wings Over Miami museum at Tamiami (TMB) airport, it is in southwest Miami. There are a couple T-6's based in the museum.
Also a great T-6 experience is Warbird Adventures http://www.warbirdadventures.com/ they are also at the Kissimmee airport just down the ramp from Stallion 51.

I guess GML sorta spoiled me for air shows - but the "Great Georgia Air Show" was a let down after seeing all those Mustangs lined up. Got a few good shots but with the sun in our eyes and the show center being directly lined up on the sun... nothing was easy...Edited by jbear2000 on Oct 15, 2007 at 09:33 AM GMT
jbear we had some challenges at that show. Still, more fun than working on the honey-do list.

Hey Rusty, we were down on the left end of the runway - but it seemed like the sun was in our eyes all day. I got some shots of the sun! ... and I got the Spirit too!
Better B2 shot than anything I got. Here is a very well maintained "Killer B"
I'm the last person in the world that sends "Thought you might enjoy this..." e-mails, but a good friend sent me this one today and I thought all of you would be touched by the images and the sentiment.
Just got a call from one of my suppliers asking me if I'd like a few of the new Sandisk 8GB SDHC cards. He's expecting them shortly. They are going to sell for around $180 with a card reader, isn't that unbelievable? I can remember just a few years ago when they released the 4 Gb CF card at $4995.00! Pro bodies haven't followed suit, unfortunately. I bought a few Transcend 16GB cards a month ago just to test them against my Sandisks, no difference in speed and in 20,000 captures, no difference in reliability. They cost about half what a Sandisk 16GB does.
By the way, if you guys are looking for a reliable supplier for cards, batteries, etc, Mydigitaldiscount.com has taken very good care of me, ask for Doug and tell him I sent you, he'll take special care of you.
A bunch of folks have asked where they can buy prints of my work. Limited edition, one off, signed and numbered still go through me. I have established a number of galleries at

Hi Jim!
Ever had any CF-cards fail on you? After having a couple of cards damage on the road (two Sandisk CF's and one Lexar) I've made a decision not to buy anything over 4Gb. I'm just too scared to think about what I would do if I'd loose a 8Gb (or bigger) card full of images. They say CF's are basically bomb proof, but I've failed to prove that. Today I use a couple of 4Gb and a couple of 2Gb Sandisk Extreme III cards and a Compact Drive PD70X photo bank on the road. I'm though getting the new version of PD70X, called NextTo OTG...
We're hearing from a large and growing number of photographers this evening that Canon USA's customer care centre is advising EOS-1D Mark III owners who call in that a fix for the camera's AI Servo autofocus problems is approximately two weeks away, that it will involve replacing the sub-mirror (a mirror behind the main reflex mirror that passes light to the autofocus sensor module) and that customer care reps are taking down contact information from those customers who would like to be notified when the fix is available.
So, forget any wrong camera settings, it is (as I suspected myself) a hardware related problem. I was putting money on the AF chip itself, but as it appears, the submirror assembly is the culprit. Cameras that are affected will have to be send back to have stuff replaced/adjusted.
just got off the phone with Canon's Virginia Tech Support and they confirmed it will be a replacement of the mirror sub-assembly. It will be the end of October before they send out an email with the information and return label for FedEx. I understand there will be a 10 day window to return the camera in a box - they just provide the label.
I sure hope this is the fix - if I can get reliable results on servo like I feel like I'm getting in single shots - I won't need a Mustang to get to cloud nine!

For anyone who was at GML - one of the pilots contacted me about whether there were any shots of his plane available for purchase. He is the owner of American Beauty/Abigail Rose and would be interested in purchasing additional photos if you have them. Please email me at [email protected] for more info.
He is particularly interested in air2air shots while he flew in formation behind the Prowler.
