Marc,
Horseman has announced the 3D. Looks very cool! A panoramic camera with stereo lenses. However it's for film but I would want one anyway The price is rumored to be 5000 USD which is way too much considering that you can get pretty cheap used X-pan's now.
They will be announcing more..I was discussing their medium format shift cameras..sw-d, sw612 etc with the guy in the store and it was in regard to that type of camera that he said something was coming...which is good as that 3d camera is just not right for me!
I also have heard of something new and german in the medium format digital back market so perhaps the rollei / sinar combo could be coming..along, no doubt, with the normal rollei / sinar price tag!
From what I've heard, there will be a new MF DB 645 AF system from R.... and S.......
All made in Germany!
Pricing will comparable with the H1/H2 system!
Only a few more weeks!
sorry!!..but I think there will be a fair amount of medium format anouncements this year..both in terms of cameras and digital backs..horseman new compact wide shift camera, rollei digital back, hassleblad wide shift lenses, pentax 645D, something from mamiya??..and much more...pesonally I wish they would just get on with it so I can sort out my gear and carry on shooting!
so then the back they will also bring out will be priced at 7k..even better!..
if this does happen, and the product(s) are as good as they need to be then pentax will make good money out of the current medium format film users and the I want a medium format dslr group...whatever, mamiya will be kicking themselves.
but then they will be misssing a trick.
what about the photographers who already have their mf kit and lenses at great expense and do not wish to cash it all in for an all in one pentax...most users of mf.
what about the photographers who as well as mf use view cameras and therefore want to be able to use digital on both their medium format kit.
the above photographers would only be extra to those buying a new mf dslr or whom have legacy pentax 645 lenses.
sure pentax never went the film back route..but this is now not then and the pentax film back would be for all other cameras.
