Do most of you use light meters, or the trial and error method?

I am about to jump on the ab bandwagon, but really don't feel like messing with light meters

a light meter helped alot for me, even though I have a lower end one, it takes alot of the guesswork out with lighting ratios and such.

Get a light meter. Saves you time from trial and error. You'll be thankful - especially when you're rushed through a shoot.

Well I was greatly looking forward to taking my new B800 and gear outside today (got it all yesterday), but with 30mph winds forecast through the weekend, I don't think I'll be doing much with lights outside
