Hello Larry -- guess I'm glad I've waited to get anything new yet. I wanted the 1Ds really bad ( still do ) -- don't have the funds right now. Then the 10d tempted me big time. I've had zero problems with my 1D, except for problems with my own expertise. I'll still get something soon. Misery loves company - I'm just glad I'm observing from the other side for a change. The recent shots you posted a couple of weeks ago ( with the 1D couldn't have been any better ) so shoot away with the old antique 1D - I for one look forward to the images. Be sure and duck when they say " Fore "

Well not to mention that if the 10D produces slightly soft images from the 135mm F/2.0 then there is clearly something wrong with the camera. Especially if the lens works great on a 1D.
If something is really wrong with the Lens you would expect it to crop up across all lenses.
What I'd like to know is, what percentage of 10D owners are experiencing this problem. Is it affecting early models or is it spread throughout the inital release units? I haven't noticed it yet and I got mine pretty early (the Thursday after the Monday release).
Perhaps if we compare the serial numbers of those with the problem. Mine seems ok and it's 0220206184.

Larry Mowry starts this thread, goes on over 6 pages extolling the virtues of reseting his camera, and all of a sudden on page 7, he states that the 10D is garbage and he returned his camera!? Something is off. I do not contest that his camera has a problem, but many of us seem to be pretty happy with ours.

Due to timing, Larry finds himself having to make very quick decisions without all the information, testing, etc. that he normally does. He is sharing his rollercoaster experience in real time. We must keep that in mind while reading these boards.
When the dust settles, (pun intended) we may have very different conclusions than we do today. Till then, I'm glad that Larry is bold enough to let us in on his current drama.

Attention to detail more than likely. 75% of the world, or more, would be happy with almost all of the equiptment Larry deems to not give enough detail. It is the nature of his work however, so he has to be that way to be successful.
I was so scared after reading all of this that I would be disappointed in my images but I downloaded my first disc from the 10D I bought Tuesday and they are beautiful- sharp, and beautiful color. I experimented with using saturation +1 and it is great. I will switch lenses all day to day and try some more because of course I do not want to use it on the job until I am confident. However, so far-touch wood- it looks great and I love what I have.

Well that could mean then that Canon has a bad production line for these guys somewhere, or possibly just a very few "good" production lines.
Anyway congratulations on appearing to have gotten one of the Good 10D's.
I must admit that to date I haven't even been tempted to get one. While I would love more pixels, and thus more detail, 2 MP wasn't enough and the 1DS, even were I willing to afford it, is just too slow.

What makes you think others (myself included) are not manic about detail and other issues?

Oh I would expect you to be, I am too about the sharpness and detail of things, Larry just always seems to go to the next level with regards to that. I mean he found the 200 F/2.8L to be too soft and not enough detail.
It was not meant as a slight to anyone else, just that Larry is an uber-detail oriented person, for the detail in the picture.

Yeah! Then there's the thread about 10D CS Pro and how it fixed all of Larry's concerns about the camera, and it's now disappeared...
What's going on, Larry? Do you, or do you NOT like the camera? Have you sent it back or have you only reset it?
As for me and my 10D, I have NO problems whatsoever...
I never leave Golf Pics up for more than a few hours. Start your own Topics with your own examples...maybe that would give a broader look at the CsPro 10D attributes?
I sent the camera back...defective....the shots this past Tuesday were horrible.

They say that some camera'a are not focusing properly and that setting the camera to default is correcting this on some of them. To do this press your menu button on the camera and scroll down to the setting "Clear Settings" press the set button and confirm and it will be set back to factory default.
