Glad to see you are back and responding to some of the "noise" on the other forums out there. A couple of thoughts and questions:
1. Please get the supply chain filled with product, I am waiting for my 14n. When more photgraphers have direct experience with the camera, speculation will go down dramatically on many forums.
2. Kodak might consider buying the company which makes "Neatimage" and similar companies which advance digital image processing. The digital image space (aka camera space) will be won by the company with the best software. Hardware always becomes commodity.
3. Post "best practices". Some of these are coming out from reviewers who are learning how to get the most out of the camera. The 14n is a system and optimum results are achieved from knowing how to use it best. Flexibility can lead to mis-use. For example, althought I do not have my camera yet, I suspect that many of the concerns about batery life would be resolved if people knew not to turn the camera on and off so much. Computers, the 14n is one, comsume significant power starting up. Is it better to leave the camera on between shots over the course of a few hours rather than turning the camera on and off?

It works well at reducing noise, especially useful in ISO 800 images. (Frankly, the noise level in my ISO 400 RAW images is not bad, even in low light situations.)
The Neat Image software is very versatile with numerous setting options, but you need to do a lot of experimenting to get just the right effect. Default settings are ok as a start.
I'll post a sample image on a Web page by Saturday evening -- thanks to Gabriel who is doing that for me, on his Web site. With and without application of Neat Image.
