p.3 #1Forum updates: new layout and image upload
The hover function over who liked a specific post is no longer there. In the past you could just move the mouse over who liked a post, and it showed the name(s). Now you need to click on the provided like that a window pops up showing the name(s). I liked it better just being able to hover over the like to see the name(s)

Maybe it's just me, but I am personally not such big fan that the poster's detail are now all automatically hidden and need to be opened up by clicking on the details section. I like to see upfront for example where a poster is from and how often the poster was present on FM before. It makes a difference to know if a poster for example is a newbie or more experienced. I liked the old site better where this was visible for all posters, but everyone could select which information to enter for visibility to others.

I agree and tweaked this.

It still shows most of the information before you click details, and it displays the full list for the thread originator's initial post. This acts as a compromise to prevent excessive scrolling in long threads.

New feature: Live preview

When you write a post, reply or PM, you now see how it will look while you type. A Preview panel appears under the message box and updates by itself, usually within a second or so. (Works on Quick Reply window too)

Select some text and click a button like Bold or Highlight, and you’ll see the codes in the box and the finished result in the preview below. There’s nothing to click and nothing is saved until you send your message.

Pictures you add through the upload box will only show once your post is sent, but images linked with the [ img ] tag do appear in the preview.

Give it a try, and let me know what you think. 😊

My only complaint is the garishness of the green and brighter orange colors you're using compared to the rest of the site. My eye is pulled away from the photos and text, which IMO should be the focus of the site.

Maybe try a more muted color scheme based on some of the colors in your logo.
I'm sensitive to this, so your feedback matters to me. I have toned down the yellow buttons in the page number pagination and removed the green "Reply" button from every individual post on the topic view page.

Those updates help a lot.

I like the more modern look. I miss the long lists of updated threads on the home page, as that was always my main entry point into the forums.

I am really enjoying the updated UI. The dashboard is my new favorite way to navigate the site.

Does my change makes it better?

It does, but I’d put the count at 15 since there’s plenty of space on that column, it seems.

Thanks for being proactive!

Since you said this was your main hub, I took the liberty of dialing it up to 16. Go big or go home, right?

Has anybody determined how to edit your thread title in the Buy/Sell forum? I believe I used to be able to do so by simply selecting edit. However, when I do so now, even though it shows me doing so in the edit page, once I select edit post the thread title remains the same. Clearly I'm doing something wrong. Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to edit the Subject of your thread or the item name? I just tried both options and it worked on my test. Are you clicking on the "Edit Listing" green button at the bottom of the page when you finish with your edit?

FM, thanks for the reply. After I posted I went back a third time and had success and came back here to update my post. Frankly, I don't know what I did the third time that I didn't do the first two. I do appreciate the response.

I made a compromise and added a few more lines. The "Detail" section is still necessary because many members have extensive profiles, including social media icons. This adjustment allows us to display the extra information while keeping it compact enough to prevent unnecessary scrolling.

The Prev and Next icons move the wrong direction. At least not the direction I expected.

It's set to Next "up", or Previous "down". Perhaps I should name it better for clarity?

You may want more opinions, but Up and Down would be more clear to me. Maybe my memory is wrong but I think Next and Previous worked to other way before this change. Regardless, I can adapt to whatever you decide.

Taking another look at the position of the icons, Up and Down may be more confusing. I think I may need to adapt. It only takes a minute to figure it out. I thought it may not have been your intention.

Agreed, looking much better now, this solution works well.
