The 23f2.8 pancake is a very sharp lens. It perfectly fits the X-E5. But: It slows the camera down considerably (as does the 27f2.8). Image review takes much longer than with other lenses, and returning from image review to shooting also takes a while (and comes with a lot of noise). Guess it something to do with the focus motor and can't be fixed with a firmware update.

Nah, 27f2.8 behaves the same. Do you own the23f2.8? Does it behave any different? If so: On which body?
I sold the 23mm f2.8, but it didn't behave any differently than any of my other Fuji lenses. It's a little bit noisier than the lenses with linear motors, but that goes for the whole Fujinon lens line.
Some people report that the lenses reset focus when starting up or going into playback mode. They haven't fixed it with a firmware update, but it wouldn't surprise me if they did at some point.

Can you explain what you mean by 'slowing the camera down?' Thanks.
I believe I've seen people report that it slows down the turn-on time of the camera.
I have the XF 287/2.8 and I can't say I've noticed it being any different to my other lenses in terms of turn-on or shot to shot speed.
Well, if the 23 and 27 are the same, then my 27mm f/2.8 (the newest version) on an E5 is no slower at startup, or returning from playback, than the Viltrox 75mm is... Startup not 2 seconds, playback back to shooting, less than 1 (barely).

Let's hope. It is a good lens, perfect fit for the XE-5.

There is time lack when reviewing an image and also when going back from playback to shooting mode. Very noticeable compared to, say, the 23f2.
So that only really affects someone who is chimping frequently. I don't so it doesn't bother me.
