Looking for real experience not thoughts
What’s the 45/1.2 like on crop?
Have both R100 and R50
Not bothered about buying another body
None really appeal atm
I have most/all of the current consumer RF primes
The 1.2 aperture sounds nice for dark winter days here in the UK
But the lack of IS and poor MFD makes me think leave alone and stick with my 24&35/1.8 is??
I happen to have the 45/1.2. Decent lens for the price and a step up from the old EF 50/1.4. But, it isn't quite up to par with the old EF 50/1.2L. Neither of which has IS so there's that. It seems that none of the 50 mm range of lenses has IS, other than zooms which don't have that extra bright aperture.
For the price, the 50/1.8 will give you more bang for the buck, though it's a bit slower on aperture. The minimum focus distance is just a hair less than 1 foot.

Thank you
I’ve decided not to bother
As you say the 50 offers more “bang for the buck”.
The only other lens that I might consider (probably next year now) is the RF 70-200/4is.
But deep down I doubt I will. I have several white EF lenses that never see use now since son stopped playing football. I can’t bring myself to use these whilst out and about in public places - they attract too much unwanted attention. Hence why I picked up the lowly 55-210… even then I cut down the hood to make it more compact.
I can never understand these people who swagger round with big whites in public…deep down I’m cringing with embarrassment for them. Looks proper sad., attention seeking and dare I say…creepy AF!!
If I need magnification I use the “ Black” EF 70-300is ii nano (again hood chopped down)… take the shot then swap for something shorter.
