p.1 #1Smallrig plate for a7Rvi now shipping
Ordered from B&H a month ago; shipped yesterday. (although their website still shows out of stock, so maybe they didn't get enough in for all pre-orders)

Anyone get one yet?

I ordered the baseplate direct from Smallrig some weeks ago, no shipping yet for me.

I ordered one a couple of days ago from Amazon/Smallrig. It's showing arriving 7/27 - 7/30. New orders would ship later per the Amazon site. Perhaps still catching up?

Ordered from B&H two weeks ago and received it today. Very similar to their baseplate for the A7V.

It arrived. As usual with Smallrig, it's nicely made and fits (relatively) well.

Edit -
Now that I'm more aware of the ridge between the bottom of the camera's grip and the plate, it does bother me a bit. Probably more psychological than physical. And I still like it better than what RRS has done with their a7Rv plates.

I ordered from them very early on, I think shortly after the A7R VI was announced, and the order still says processing.

Looks nice, Mike. Can you show one more picture from the grip side? Are you happy with how it mates up to the grip? Does your pinky feel comfortable there?

It sticks out a little bit around the bottom of the grip, so there's a slight ridge there. But it feels fine in the hand.

Their a7Rv plate matches the outer profile of the camera's grip more exactly, so no ridge. Not sure why they needed it to be different on this body. Could be because the little hinged section to clear the battery door is longer.

Thanks, Mike. Yes, I can see the difference compared to my A7RV plate. I am obsessive enough that this may bother me.

I know what you mean. If they weren't the only game in town at the moment for the mk6, I might be tempted to switch. Leofoto seems to only have an l-plate, and I'm not paying the RRS tax any more, even if they come out with one, so it'll probably have to do.

What’s the wrist strap, Mike? Do Smallrig make one which attaches to the camera at the top and their baseplate at the bottom? I’ve wanted one like that for ages — a hand-strap rather than a wrist-strap — but never found one for Sony.

That sucks. We are in the same boat. Hopefully they ship in the next few months. It is too late for this summer, maybe I could use it in December.

I like mine overall and it fits fairly well. Like Mike and Ross mentioned that little lip around where the pinky rests sticks out a bit. At first it bothered me but in actual use it feels pretty good. My biggest issue is the little magnetic key that goes underneath. It’s a completely new design that I don’t really like and it sits right at the edge of the plate. I already had it come out and fall on the ground while shooting with it yesterday. I’ll have to see if it continues to be a problem and if so may look for another option including Leofoto or even paying the RRS tax. All Smallrig needed to do was make the same plate from the A7RV and modify the size to fit the A7RVI. Not sure why they had to redesign it like this. I thought the other one was perfect.

The Smallrigs a7RVI plate is not as good as the Smallrigs a7RV plate? I've already lost the goofy key for one of the a7RV plates due to weak magnets. On the second one I don't even carry that key since it will get lost. I wish they would use the standard 4mm (~5/32') hex driver. My need for the plate is purely for the 5th digit to rest.

I appreciate your honest assessment, and Mike’s also. Based on the plate not lining up smoothly with the grip like it does on the A7RV, and the fact that Smallrig still has not shipped my June 10 preorder while folks who ordered later from B&H got them already, I went ahead and canceled. I’ll wait and see what else materializes from other makers. I’m no longer in a hurry because I have fallen in love with the ergonomics of the Sony vertical grip attached and it won’t be coming off anytime soon, it just feels so good in hand.

Hmmm, not sure I like that ridge… while it is slight, it is also sticking out like a sore thumb, design-wise. Looks like something you have to try out in person to know whether it will bother your hand because depending on the size of your hand, the pinky might end up fighting that ridge, sadly.
