Oooooh. CCD goodness. You should post some samples in the Old Sony Gear thread. It's not Sony, of course, but I'm sure they'd appreciate some shots from the grand-camera.
So cool! I shot one for years and loved it. A couple of months ago while going through my old archives I fund a huge stash of pics made with it. I had sort of forgotten just how nicely that CCD sensor could render a scene. I've been keeping an eye out for another one since then. Enjoy it, I got so many wonderful shots from mine.
Wow, I never heard of that one. Minolta was kinda under the radar at that time, being overshadowed by Canon and Nikon, or even some of the weirdly Fuji S series sensors. Today I wonder how the batteries hold up or if they can be replaced with generiatrics.

Having shot Minolta for decades I don't know if I'd say they were "under the radar". If anything they were pushing technology and more innovative than Canon or Nikon in my book. IBIS was just one of the "firsts" by Minolta over the years.
I remember being blown away but the multiple segment exposure readings on the back LCD of my previous Maxxum 7. Made it simple to properly balance exposure in camera with things like split ND filters while shooting slides. No one else had that at the time.

Yeah... as a Canon (and sometimes Nikon) shooter over the years, I could only imagine having IBIS in a *DSLR* way back in 2003-2005. Kudos to Minolta (and Olympus).

This brought back some wonderful memories for me, as the 7D was my first"real" digital camera. Really enjoyed using it, and was bummed when Minolta went away.
I remember talking to a guy in maybe 2001 (?) who used 5mp (?) camera, thought it was a Minolta not seeing anything that matches, though. Wondered why he'd use such low res given I'd read kodachrome 25 is 25mp. Of course i didn't realize all of the stuff you could do to improve iq, wish I'd gone digital then instead of thinking the guy was an idiot or something.
Sad to see Minolta go away, used to be the big 3. Theu came out 1st af film camera, maxxum 7000. Seemed to be ahead on tech in general
Good luck, have fun, are you able to use ps , or do you use a different raw processor, or just shoot jpegs? Using older Canon bodies here.

The raw files work fine in LR and other post-processing. No lens profiles, but that's nbd.

Ive heard DPP o ly goes back to 20D, but that's as far back as I've gone anyway. That came out the same year it looks like.
Minolta made some lenses and optics for Leica, accordingto Leica Collectors Guide, and I had X-700 + 3 MD lenses that seemed very good. Looks like you got 50/1.7, which other lens(es) did you get? Takes CF cards?

The other lens is a consumer 75-300 zoom that I'm not expecting much from (haven't mounted it yet). And yeah, it takes CF cards. Came with a 1GB card containing someone's vacation pics.
