In that respect, not a single YouTube influencer would need to publish a single "test video".
By and large, for a photographer who is interested in photo quality, YouTube reviews are not a benchmark and are interesting just in the general words of the reviewer..

And yet, without exception, EVERY one of these self-proclaimed experts shows their example images. Well, personally, I don't care about any of these constantly chattering YouTube influencers anyway.

True, but where is this lens? Do you have any idea when it will be available in the US?

Just because you seem to know more about this lens and I’m not entirely sure what's been officially released. From the pictures and its weight, I thought it had a metal barrel, but now I'm not so sure. I just remember the TTA 40/2.5 felt really cheap in hand since it was all plastic, so that stuck with me.

I genuinely think you're the first person I've heard that felt like the build of the TTA feels cheap. Extremely lightweight, yes, but most comment on the metal body/hood and satisfying aperture ring. I think TTA's focus rings could be better, but who is using those?

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the 7A 40/2.5, not the TTA 40/2, which has a great build. I wrote TTA by mistake but meant 7Artisan.

I do not know when he will be in the USA. In China, it is still being sold via WeChat and apparently the L-Mount, which was promised to be the latest (after the Chinese New Year), is already on sale. That reviewer gave a link to larger sizes. I downloaded them (webp format) to an album.: https://photos.app.goo.gl/oB6ReY8jVsFuRwKTA
p/s It is not visible even on Chinese online platforms yet. We're waiting..
Interesting - he says:
"Center sharpness: No real complaints here. Even wide open at f2.2, the center looks very good to me. By f4 and beyond, it looks fantastic."
"Corner sharpness: This is where the compromises show more. You can definitely see softness in the corners from f2.2 through about f4. It improves as you stop down."
He's using it on a Panasonic S9 - I wonder if the lens has been optimized for Sony's thick sensor stack or the thin stack on the 'L' mount? At the $159 price point I can't imagine SGimage would be optimizing the lens for each mount. They'd have to standardize on one...

Could this be the closest replacement for the Sonnar 35/2? At least in terms of size when used on an A7C series body?
I think so.
TBH, my tastes have changed since the RX1 came out--I still like it though. If this lens was less perfect than the 35/2 Sonnar, I'd prefer that. The size looks fantastic give the aperture. Fingers crossed.

The wait to see and hear more about this thing is killing me. So much so, I've picked up the TTA 40/2.0 in the meantime, which is pretty solid in its own right. This thread put me onto it, so thank you all. Now hurry up and tell me about the SG!

Isn't that interesting. I feel like I've gone through a similar change in taste as well. I even repurchased the RX1R II recently because I used to love the look of the lens, but now I'm not as impressed as I once was. It's still a great lens, but the rendering feels very bland. The focus transition almost has a Gaussian-like blur, and aside from the noticeable axial CA, the overall look is quite clean and corrected. For instance, I now prefer the rendering of the LLL 35/2 "8-Element" over the Sonnar 35/2.
I think that the SG-image 35mm f/2.2 AF actually seems much than the Sonnar.

If that Nikon SE version hits before the Septon does, I might pick one up and throw it into the comparison. Lacking an aperture ring makes it unappealing to keep though.
