I was able to replicate the behavior that guy on reddit mentioned: when you wind to the next frame, first time you touch the shutter it seems to revert to the fastest shutter speed regardless what the correct metering would be (for me that was f8 1/500 vs 1/60 today). Next half-press of the shutter it uses the correct shutter speed. None of my shots would have been affected by this quirk. Had I not specifically checked for that behavior, I wouldn't have noticed it. I put that on the list of non-issues tbh.
Tried it again at home with dry-firing the camera and now I can't replicate it anymore. So not sure about this one.. Might need to do a more controlled test with film at some point.

Unfortunately my go-to lab is closed until 2 Jan and I don't develop at home.. so it will take a while until we get to see some results :/
But hopefully some of the other guys will be able to share some first pics soon now!

Ach he also mentions that the film does not completely advance in one stroke, but needs a tiny second action to complete.
At this point I demand they include footage of how they loaded the film. Somehow I think it's more likely they just messed up instead of actual production flaws. Or they're just super sloppy when advancing.. I could be wrong though
Fwiw, I never experienced an issue like that on my copy. Then again I haven't developed any pictures yet, so there might be issues with frame spacing etc that I don't know about yet.
The Dukes Gardens blog post is nice, but looks like the guy is inverting his negatives manually and the color balance looks very wonky on some of those shots.. maybe Smart Convert or NLP can reach out and gift him a license

This was not the case for mine (except when the strap got in the way).
Good to know. It may just be initial production issues which need sorting.
I had a Zeiss Ikon ZM that did that. Returned that camera to seller. Off topic but glad that camera failed as the seller did not disclose that he was a smoker and the camera stank. No matter what I tried I could not get rid of the stale cigarette smell!
There seem to be enough reports of overlapping frames to conclude it is not an isolated issue. Pity. Hopefully it can be sorted with the next batch and doesn't required a redesign. Otherwise the camera seems really good.

Once this camera is sorted, I'm getting one.
Also... I'll be buying one locally or from a place like B&H so if anything is wrong, it will be an easy return...
It really ticks all the boxes of a high end p&s, but w/o the stooopid price those time bombs are going for.
I love that it has manual film advance, but with AF! This is everything we wished Pentax had made with the 17. Instead they gave us a half frame zone focus camera with cryptic symbols and little manual control. For the same money.

I suspect you’re right. However I also still think there’s an off chance that people are just too dumb to load it properly. I found that you need to take a bit of care to make sure the film engages properly with the takeup spool, so maybe that’s the culprit. We‘ll see.
If it turns out to be a widespread issue, I hope they do a good job fixing it under warranty.
