Bummer about the vf being distorted and not too clear. I just looked through the VFs of my Pentax Espio 24EW and Canon SureShot Ace. Both are sharp, clear and undistorted.
Now my CampSnap - that thing is so blurry it’s as if I am wearing Mr.Magoo’s glasses.
Hey y'all, back from Japan. Shot 6+ rolls and had a great time with the thing. Will be sending them off for development soon. What's the current favorite mail-in dev lab aside from The Darkroom? Looking for good scan quality, ideally.

I stopped using the Darkroom a long time ago after they bolloxed my film and made no effort to make it good.

Yeah so far it's the only significant negative for me in terms of user experience. And I wonder if it was really not feasible to have a nicer viewfinder at the 500€ price point.. or make it 529€ ffs, I would have still bought it
As I said, it's not like it's unusable or anything, but it just feels subpar compared to how nice the rest of the camera is.
Put it on the list of things to fix in the mark II I guess..

How do you find the rewind action? On mine it was very notchy, with a lot of resistance.

It’s weird though because my $25 Reto UltraWide N Slim has a clear VF. So why can’t a $550 Lomo have one?

I keep going back to comparing the real Rollei 35, which felt almost Leica M like, in comparison to the Mint 35AF, which felt like I was looking through one of those distorted mirrors at the waterfront carnival. Not to mention the Canon Sure Shot Owl's VF is so good I extracted one to use on a Leica III for when I had a 35 on it. Adjusted for inflation that would be a $280 camera.
but I've verified that the camera applies the incorrect aperture and shutter speed to the photo. Is this happening to everyone? Or is it a problem with my camera? I haven't had any other problems with the camera (I haven't shot with it yet)
How did he verify that it is applying incorrect exposure when he then says he has not shot with it yet?

He does not make any sense with this statement:

So the little screen shows shutter speed and aperture info ?
He compared to the external light meter?
Have no idea.
But if base on the reviews regarding the VF I would pass this camera.
As you mentioned in previous post we have lots of cheaper cameras provide clearer VF.

I have no idea what he is doing. What we know is he admits he has not actually used it, just waving it around.
Some cameras default to a set exposure/shutter speed when loading. You can see he already is at the 40 exp mark so the camera may now be reverting to that. Who knows? What we do know is he keeps dry firing it after the count has hit 40.
I’ll wait until I get feedback from our trusted members here on FM, than some rando posting on the web
Maybe the vf is better on my p&s cameras than this Lomo. But the Lomo offers so much more than them with the rest of its feature set. So we’ll see.
On my first day as president, er, owner of the MC-A I will commit a roll of black and white film and develop it myself. I shall test these things, yay, I shall. With actual film and a tiny bit of competence, as god intended. Amen.

And let this be recorded on the 19th day of December, in the year of our (and maybe your) Lord, Twenty Twenty Five.
All those who approve, say Aye. All those who disapprove leave now and forever be banished to the Sony forum.
I was able to replicate the behavior that guy on reddit mentioned: when you wind to the next frame, first time you touch the shutter it seems to revert to the fastest shutter speed regardless what the correct metering would be (for me that was f8 1/500 vs 1/60 today). Next half-press of the shutter it uses the correct shutter speed. None of my shots would have been affected by this quirk. Had I not specifically checked for that behavior, I wouldn't have noticed it. I put that on the list of non-issues tbh.
Winding and re-winding are both nice and smooth on my copy. No complaints at all.
Shutter sound is just lovely and very satisfying. I'd say it is a bit louder than your average leaf shutter (didn't check yet, but I assume it is a leaf shutter?), but that's a positive in my book - I hate the Ricoh GR3 and Fuji X100 shutter sounds for example. The MC-A's sound is more comparable to my Leica M-P (typ 240).
I still need to get used to the viewfinder and how to accurately frame with it - if I move my eye around I can significantly change what's supposed to be in the frame.. but on the plus side I didn't encounter issues with reflections in bright early morning sunlight, or at least I didn't notice any compared to my testing under artificial light earlier in the week. Shooting against the sun actually made it a bit easier to see the framelines as it illuminated them.
Another positive: I love the focal length! Sometimes 35mm feels oddly not wide and not long enough at the same time. 31-32mm on the other hand - as I learned earlier this year after using the Pentax 31mm - is perfectly wide. Better than either 28mm or 35mm imo.
Can confirm now that it is a leaf shutter. And the lens has four aperture blades, so don't expect amazing sunstars
So aaaactually the "front and rear curtain" flash sync modes are not technically front and rear curtain, but they are start and end of exposure so effect should still be the same.
