I mean we do know that something is going wrong between the pressure plate, the wheel that grabs onto the film sprockets and the guard rails. The pressure plate on my copy was quite wobbly compared to other cameras (i.e. very little resistance if you push it a bit), so I think it could be contributing to the film not transporting properly and generally not being held in place correctly.
My camera is traveling back to Vienna tomorrow. Will be interesting to see if they repair it or just send a new one.

I'm tempted to stuff something in there and run a test roll of B&W.
Focus is generally ok. Here is what the typical miss looks like. This is exactly how I missed a shot on my first roll: subject with distant background. Probably one of those times to shoot zone focus. Focus and recompose, my usual MO, can be dicey. Maybe that's typical-ish for a 90s P&S but I can't recall this happening to me on every roll on my Canon Sleek.

Here is the MC-A at its best. Near perfect lighting conditions for color temp and contrast.
This is on Flic Film 800. The resolution is good and when the lens coating isn't fighting for its life the lens mostly delivers.

Looks like I will be getting a new MC-A next week. I wonder if that's a batch #2 camera then.
I sent mine back yesterday with a promise of repair and some free film for my troubles. Not sure if repair just means replacement but then I noticed today that the MC-A is actually listed as in-stock on Lomography USA’s website.
I posted a review of sorts on my IG highlight stories.

Do we know if there is such a thing as a batch number 2? Is anyone reporting that they have a perfectly functioning MC-A?
Don’t think we do. But I remember reading that preorders were supposed to ship in December and later orders to be delivered in January. And their Vienna team said they’ll receive new cameras end of this week / early next week. To me this sounds like there’s at least a chance that it’s a new production run.
If they know the first batch is faulty and they send customers who complain a second faulty copy, that would be beyond stupid. Not just from a brand image perspective but just cost. I’d guess exchanging a camera (here in Europe) costs them about 20-30€ in logistics, shipping, working hours. So 5-7% of what I paid for it. If they send me a second faulty copy and I send that back again, how much margin is left from selling that camera to me?
I just got a roll of Kodak Vision 200D AHU back from the lab that I ran through the MC-A. Four instance s of overlapping frame son this one! I made it a point of stopping down to no less than f4 on this lens so we'll see what kind of flair we get.
RE: Optics. I'm really beginning to wonder if the lens in the MC-A and the Rollei 35AF are the one and same, just in different mounts. 5 element design with a deep blue coating. Lomo just calls theirs 32mm. I'm going to have to go online and look at samples.

I’ve been posting pics using my Lomo Minitar 32 on a Leica M, and the results look very different than what has been posted from the MC-A.
Lomography has said that the Minitar in the MC-A is an ‘improved’ version but the differences make me think it is a completely different lens.
My Minitar is sharp in the middle, then gets smeary to the sides. The MC-A version seems to be much more even across the frame, but also quite a bit less sharp in the middle. I have a color roll that I just shot with my M7 which I will post soon-ish.

The overlapping frame issue is one big thing keeping me away from this camera. I was really hopeful to have a new 35mm point and shoot. Hearing about issues with film advance lever not always working correction doesn't help either.

The lens on the MC-A says „Minitar II“ - it’s a completely different lens
