Comming of new EVO's
A new 55mm f1.8, and a 35mm f1.8
Boxes of the new lenses for Z mount are seen, so the E-mount will soon be seen!
The Sony (Zeiss) 55 f1.8 has been my favorite for a long time, but it's imaginable that a new lens more then 10 years later will surpass it.
On top aperure ring, some buttons and lineair MF and I will buy it for sure.
I don't see the point of releasing a 55mm 1.8 just a few months after the incredible 50mm Air f2...
But if the 35mm is on the same level as the 85mm or the 50 air... I will probably get it!
This test confirms that the sharpness and contrast are excellent.
It's a shame that most chinese lens manufactuers, which are indeed all relatively new on the market, still don't fully master the art of flare control.
I just ordered another 85 EVO today. Hoping this copy is in better nick than the first one I purchased and returned. I really have few complaints with my 85 1.4 DG DN ART but I'd like something smaller and I rarely shoot at between 1.4 and 2.0
Flares are just as much an integral part of cine as they are verboten in stills lens reviews. It's a battle for the public mind that is still in play today, but we will win that one too.
Joking apart, I'd be interested in a flatter field EVO lens. The 50mm f2 Air is sharp but not flat field. An APO lens would be a good opportunity for making the lens flatter field. I also hope the AF is improved also, the motor in my 50mm Air is not useable in AFC on my A7r4, too slow, always lagging.
