It wouldn't be hard to talk me into carrying around the silver + moss green. That and the sepia brown are very nice looking. I used one shortly after they were introduced, and the 40mm lens punches above its weight.
To my knowledge, the L-mount is one of the few mounts, along with the Canon RF mount, that cannot be adapted to the Z-mount, or at least not without serious compromises.
I only know of one L to Z adapter, but it is only suitable for manual lenses and also requires it to be screwed tightly to the lens mount.
This adapter allows using manual lenses with Leica L mount on cameras with Nikon Z mount. We can't make female bayonets properly (with spring-loaded lugs and lens lock button), unfortunately. So, this is rather an add-on mount that is secured to the original lens mount by 4 set screws. These screws will damage a lens mount a bit. Please consider whether this is acceptable for you before purchasing. To use this adapter, you should secure it on the lens first, and then mount it to the camera as usual. The set screws are tiny. Please don't overtight them to not damage the lens mount too much, and to not damage the aluminium adapter thread....Show more →

I prefer black as it is visually smaller, given how big ZF is.
You'd think so, but on the other hand, large surfaces appear larger in a single color than when divided into different colors. In this photo, where both are shown together, the silver version seems less massive to me, even though it's prominently in the foreground. Ultimately, you have to see it in real life. https://www.fotoobjektiv.at/8316/ende-september-bringt-nikon-eine-silberfarbene-nikon-zf/
With a 33-36mp sensor the looks of this camera would be enough for a one-off with the 40mm. Or Sony makes a Minolta SRT vintage camera. Whoever can do it first...

Dang that looks cool. But I agree it doesn't match with black lenses so well, and not going to pay $2k for it xD
For around 50 years, the black Nikkors matched all the chrome F, FE, and FM perfectly, and now they're no longer supposed to match the imitation? I don't understand that. I personally think they match very well. Back then, for example, I also liked the silver FM3a with the black 2.8/45 P better than with the silver lens. I feel the same way about the controls. I also found the silver ones on the FM3a less attractive than the black ones on the FM2n. It's a shame that the Zf also has silver controls. Everyone has different preferences, after all.
The linear resolution increase from 24 to 33 MP is really quite negligible. It’s a difference in print size at similar quality of like 2 inches.

I like to crop. I’m sure when the Zf mk 2 comes out it’ll be a bigger sensor.

33mp vs 24mp is the difference of 7.000 pixels vs. 6.000 pixels on the long edge. So your cropping advantage is 16% - using your 40mm lens example: let's say you feel comfortable cropping from 40mm to 50mm on the Zf today, then you'd be able to crop to 58mm on a 33mp sensor..
For a meaningful advantage in resolution it would have to step up to the 45mp sensor or even the 61mp Sony sensor.
I'm sorry, but I think the grips completely ruin the design of the Nikon Zf, making it look ungainly and cobbled together. This is particularly noticeable on the SL.
