One even more basic question: the 35-100E has an 86mm filter size. Is this a "coarse" thread? (I've never had a filter that large and I could not find the answer on the HB website nor via their online chat.)

It's just a "regular" thread and a normal B+W filter fits perfectly.

I'm with Scott on the AF-C and the handling on that 35-100. I've used this camera to shoot live music, [I]a lot[/I] and I would describe it as insecure at best. It finds faces quick enough, but it doesn't hold them as tightly as it should. It's nervous and reminds me of early mirrorless AF systems. It will bounce from eye to face and there's a lag there where you can wind up with OOF shots in-between that transition. I think the 35-100 is better at focusing than the 55V is, and maybe even the 25V, but it wasn't dramatic from my memory.
In continuous shooting, which bumps the camera down to 14bit (a non-issue TBH) it's sometimes hard to know just how many shots you've captured. The X2D II has a lengthy shutter blackout when you take images in 16 bit, but not so much in 14 bit, and each frame doesn't always have a clear shutter sound or close action. You have to pay close attention to the small rotating circle icon in the bottom right that shows your buffer countdown, because the camera will start to chug. It also gets pretty hot.
I don't think most people who own this camera use it like I do, but the YouTubers were definitely overselling the AF capabilities (shock and awe).

I just use Phocus Mobile 2. It’s a joy to use and you still get the benefits of HNCS and their noise reduction. I can do any masks or healing on the TIFFs I get out of that later.

Speaking of TIFF it seems the series of articles by Konrad Michels I linked to above are perhaps somewhat dated in that they say TIFF export from Phocus doesn't support HDR. It seems Phocus can export "HDR TIFF."
But it also seems while Phocus supports Ultra HDR JPEG (8 bit JPEG SDR with an embedded gain map for HDR capable displays) it doesn't support the much more capable JPEG XL?
Boy, the development of this HDR stuff is a whole new kettle of fish that's come about while I have been away from photography. While you can't print it, I do like the idea of a HDR workflow and the range of devices capable of displaying HDR these days is enormous and growing.

My honeymoon with the X2DII is over. I was excited that af-c with eye detection finally works, unlike on the gfx100s2, but in practice it does not: I get a lot of out-of-focus pictures. The 55V lens does not hunt as much as the GF55, and it gives the impression that it focuses correctly, but the results are more often slightly out of focus than in focus. Another issue is that the camera chooses the wrong eye to focus on, and there is no way to switch eyes (correct me if I am wrong). So, to get consistent results, I have to use AF-S and focus points, exactly as I do with the GFX.
One undeniable benefit is the leaf shutter with its "limitless" flash sync speed. However, both Profoto and Godox have major issues working with the x2dII, which I did not expect and did not check beforehand. There are workarounds, but I did not pay a premium in order to use workarounds. That was disappointing.
I also do not know whether it is my camera, a setting, or something else, but the EVF often shows washed-out colors in some images, and only the histogram gives you an idea of whether you are exposing correctly. And of course ISO changes only in full stops, for reasons, so histogram changes a lot. It is much easier for me to get exposure the right way in gfx than in hasselblad.
The one unexpectedly useful feature is the infinity focus button. I laughed at it at first, but it is very usable for general outdoor photography, and I use it all the time.
I resisted for a long time, but I finally bought the gf32-64 for the gfx system. I like it more than the X2D II with the 35-100 AND it fits my small EDC bag! I will keep the Hasselblad for now, it is fun and quirky and sync speed helps sometimes, but it is not better than the GFX for me.

Is the joystick not changing eyes for you? You can also set up the rear screen with a swipe action.
I haven’t even hooked up a flash to my X2D2 but from the X2D the Profoto units work MUCH more reliably tan my Godox kit.
As for the rest I’m not seeing what you are. I have a GFX100ii and GFX100Sii annd the GFX55 and they're about the same regarding accuracy, although when pushed the Fuji is faster (dim light etc). I do give the Fuji a slight edge, it not much. You’re also far more lens limited on the Hasselblad. The new zoom has the best AF overall. While I do really like the look and sharpness of the GFX55 it’s a bit of a beast to carry.

From my understanding flash issue affects only x2d2. Profoto Connects for Nikon with the latest firmware do not work in TTL and reset power to 0.1 when you turn them on. You can use Profoto in manual mode, or better yet use non-Nikon trigger in manual mode. Godox just does not work at all for me unless I use non-Nikon trigger in a "dumb" manual mode. I mostly shoot in manual mode, so I can just carry only fujifilm trigger , but it is annoying.
I am not sure how to replicate washed out colors, it always happen when I am in a rush so far.
No luck with eye selection - joystick does not do anything, and I do not see any settings for this.
