I'm seeing mixed reviews on the battery life. One review I watched said he shot all day on a single battery charge. Don't remember who it was, but I believe he was shooting in or near the Grand Tetons.

Terrible battery life - this is exactly what I was afraid of when I saw fw-50 + AI AF.
Well, at least it's nothing new in RX1 series ...
Though the way it's written in the article is not totally clear. If it's 3h of airplane mode but the camera was turned on all the time (no sleep), it's not bad I'd say.

Found the video. He talks about battery life starting at 16:33.

For you.
I definitely preferred to carry 1 spare than 3, as I do now when I'm anticipating a full day of shooting on vacation. And I'm talking about a fullsize camera in a bag, not a pocket.
Then there's the issue with charging them all to be ready for the next day...

Just take a spare and you are set. Not something to really worry about. I always carry a spare ( 2 sometimes ) with the A7r3.

The same guy that said the AF was bang on, but then said it missed focus on a MOUNTAIN?

Wow, the Q3 is starkly better. Weird, all I've been told for the last 10 years is how legendary this Zeiss is
If all one cares about is sharpness then yeh…especially if one shoots test charts for a living. Take a boo at the rx1 image thread for actual images and their qualities.
As I expected, not even close to GFX100RF in overall resolution, different purpose camera. Sill I don't claim it's a bad lens, the camera is still individual because the size and F2 FF lens, combined with great AF.

I believe that you can care about sharpness and not be in the category of, “If all one cares about is sharpness…”.

Obviously…but when one says “Weird, all I’ve been told for the last 10 years is how legendary this Zeiss is” based on the sharpness test tells me he is ignoring all other aspects that makes a lens great. Focused on test charts rather than images.

Agreed, the Q3 43 is definitely better in that test, as is the A7CR. That is a surprisingly weak performance by the RX1Riii. I suppose it could be a bad copy. Sharpness isn't everything, but it is a thing that matters.

would be interesting to see which settings are on/off in these different cases. Suspect that things like enable pre focus on such a camera could impact battery light as an example. Still getting some better duration than my rx1rii will be a positive.

I’ve had this camera since Tuesday. It’s amazingly small and light, and the autofocus is exceptionally good compared to other cameras in this category (though I haven’t had a chance to try the Fuji RF yet). What I can confirm is the terrible battery life, you’ll need 2 spare batteries to comfortably make it through a full day of shooting. Personally, it’s definitely a keeper for me. What I’m debating now is whether to keep the Q3 43 or not, since their rendering is so different
