Painful pricing, that'll be a lot in EUR sadly. Not the direction they should have taken here.
People don't want Leica Q3 pricing, they just want a small and simple camera.

Also, if this is the A7RIV sensor then people are paying a LOT for a 6 year old sensor

I said it elsewhere, but I'm surprised at the low-resolution EVF for this price. The pricing really is premium for the capabilities. Maybe used copies will be attractive in a few years, but for now I'd probably rather chase a X100VI.

Yup for that price I want the best possible EVF, and rear LCD

It's likely using the same sensor as the A7CR, and the EVF specs seem to match as well. I shoot with the A7CR, and while the EVF is its weak point, the 0.7x magnification is a big improvement over the original A7C. I've learned to live with it since portability is the main priority with both the A7CR and the new RX1R III.

This is competing with the Q3 and Gfx100rf, not the x100.

A cheap viewfinder, no IBIS to make it cheaper?, what else did they do to make it cheaper?, yet at a premium price. Initial excitement quickly wanes, makes Q3 more desirable. On the other hand, I rented an original rx1r ten years ago, with the same "lack of features" and it was a nice fun camera for a trip to Las Vegas.

Absurd pricing for what this is IMO.

I loved my RX1 when I had it but I’d be looking to the Q3 or even the Fuji MF RF before shelling out $5100 for this camera. The A7C2/A7CR looks like a bargain in comparison.

$300 for the thumb grip .. that's Leica prices

Still a very interesting camera even if it's overpriced IMO, I also don't think it would be a bad thing if it were a little wider.

I wonder where it's manufactured...nowadays it's hard to guess non US price based on old rules of thumb.

My first reaction was: finally!!!

My second reaction was - $5,100 or 4900 EUR (which is around $5,700 USD) - holy smoke!

My 3rd reaction was: why are they cutting corners at this price range? 2.3mdot EVF, single card slot and no internal memory, small battery, no IBIS, 5 fps, etc

I thought this would be $4,000 but I guess Sony wants to compete with Leica now.

I think we all know the strengths and weaknesses of this sensor by now. I feel like they could have innovated a bit more overall instead of re-using sensor, lens, and more, but still, I'm sure it is an amazing image maker. I am looking forward to try it out.

This looks fantastic to me! I won’t buy at full retail, but I never bought any of the other RX1 bodies at full retail either. I am surprised though they did not figure out some form of stabilization.

Happy they kept the Sonnar. Wonder if it’s been tweaked at all. Cheers Sony!

I have the same take on the A7CR, but not at the price point of this new camera. Perhaps, there is a size constraint, because it wasn’t a great marketing move.

Wow. I was hoping for at least IBIS. 61MP with no IBIS?? Your'e gonna need to use a higher shutter speed than with the original RX1RII to keep things sharp.

Was also hoping for an f/1.4 lens. (Or at least a slight bump to f/1.8)

Most companies seem to think that Europe pricing should be -> USD = EUR + 20%. That does sadly take this up to 6000 EUR approx. Hopefully that would be the case.
I'm guessing this will be manufactured in Thailand, which I think is probably a wise call with tariffs etc. Most R cameras are made in Thailand as far as I know.

I don't want to learn to live with such a low res EVF on a camera that costs this much. Bump the price by $100 and put in a high res EVF off the A7r5 or better, the A1. It cant cost that much more?

Still too much of course, but at least the forex is somewhat fair for once.
