EF 24-70/2.8 L II on R6/2 did Iceland last late summer. I didn't have much time for tripoding, so in shooting this at f/14 1/2s just from hand the R6/2 IBIS was well worth the money.
Back out again with the EF 600/4.0, both with and without the 1.4x teleconverter. Mounted today on my R5 MKII. Couldn't get a clean angle on the owl without branches in the way but he was otherwise quite cooperative.
I'm still using my EF 24mm 1.4 mark I with the adapter on my R5 body, even though I'm sure the mark I is not as good as the EF mark II, or the new RF, I find that the results look great. Actually, that is now the oldest Canon lens in my setup, I bought it in 2005.
I think a lot of EF lenses are a great value right now. And a lot of people using them. For me personally going to an RF body is a step up in AF but I don't like the price of the RF glass.
The RF 14-35 f4 is a great lens and I think better than what EF offers....plus that 14mm wide...
Also the RF 28-70 f2 has no equivalent and I've use it, although a hefty lens for sure.
I also think that Sigma Art lenses are a great value. And then some other gems from Canon EF like 180 macro, 400 f4 II, 65 MP-E. Even 200 f2 which I wish I would have kept(had to sell in the beginning of the pandemic)
Out yesterday mainly shooting my Leica SL2. But a couple of eagles were out so I grabbed some shots of them too. Canon R5 MKII with my old EF 600/4.0 and 1.4x.
Not only do I have and use many EF mount lenses adapted, I recently bought a new lens in EF mount (Laowa 200/2.0).
When I started digging in the closet to see just how many EF mount lenses I still have and use, it actually surprised me as I can't believe I'm still in the double digits.
Some shots from various EF lenses on various bodies/systems.
I was a longtime professional Canon user as a photojournalist (38 yrs). I was one of the first CPS members and loved the system. But when I entered semi-retirement I wanted a smaller system and sold most everything and moved to Fujifilm. I love the system and have been using it since 2018. But my local daily paper has sucked me back in to working shooting sports and news on a part time basis. I have made it work with my X-T5 but the low light ISO is not great and the auto focus is still not quite there. I still own a first version EF 300 f2.8 and a EF 100 f2 and have decided to pick up a used R6 MKll and adapt these two lenses as well as buying some used RF glass. I guess my question is how well will these two EF lenses work with the adapter. I'm also going to pick up a used EF 100-400 f4.5/5.6 for shooting field sports. Hoping that the EF glass adapts well with the EF-RF adapter. Let me know what you folks think!
I can't answer your question about EF/RF adapters, since I'm still shooting the original EF and EF-M bodies. Otherwise, I expect you'll be pleased with the results.

Well, ever since picking up a R5 MKII it's been my choice for any action type work were I want the best AF performance. Yet all my glass is still EF. I haven't seen any issues with using the EF lenses on the RF body.
Those lenses should work great. I have used the EF 300 2.8 is and the EF 100-400 II on mirrorless and the only problem is that I think you will get a slower maximum fps with the first 300 2.8 is , but you can somewhat work around that by using the electronic shutter instead of the mechanical one. The AF and file’s are fantastic.

Very reassuring information. I was also wondering about the rolling shutter issue with the electronic shutter and the fps with the mechanical shutter. My XT5 gives me 15 fps with the mech shutter and I understand the R6 mkll is 12. Great info about the EF 100-400! I almost bought that lens back in the day but never got around to it. I used my 300 2.8 with the 1.4 most of the time or the 70-200 2.8 with the 1.4. So many questions before I jump back into Canon! Thanks
