Ok..Canon 1Dx EF-70-200f2.8 II, f2.8, 15sec, Tripod, Remote Switch.. Soft lawn chair and a few "brewskies" My neighbor's longhorns were out in the field to my right(frame's right). My neighbor tells me that the solar storms have an affect on the brain of cattle and they go outside the barn rather than "bed down". He "likens " it to the premonition of some creatures that an earthquake or other natural phenomena is about to happen.Looking NNE

Quick backstory, I was a longtime Canon shooter, from around 1998 (I'm not old, you're old) until the Sony A7 came out and I jumped to mirrorless. I picked up a "smart" adapter to adapt my Canon lenses while Sony filled in their lens lineup. Fast forward to whatever year it is now, and I'm shooting with native glass and I've got Canon lenses sitting in a cabinet.

In my opinion, adapting to Sony is no longer worth the hassle, but I've been away from Canon so long I don't know if it adapts better to their mirrorless cameras.

Definitely not worth the hassle to adapt in general if you’re starting from scratch or have built up a current native lineup for whichever system you’re on. But when there’s added utility, holes to fill, or just general cost savings involved, it can still be rather compelling.

For me, I’ve still held onto a decent number of EF amount lenses like the 300/2.8, 100/2.0, TSEs, Sigma 105/1.4 and 50/1.4 Art, and a Conurus modded Zeiss Contax 50/1.4 N (with AF) as I shoot three different systems for which they can all be adapted to (Sony, Canon RF, and Fuji). Most of these lenses just aren’t worth it for me to sell at this point, and they still get various things done for me across the three brands of bodies.

When it comes to adaptability, not much beats the EF mount lenses.

I'm shooting only EF lenses. I have an R6II but also a 5Ds so I want all of my lenses to work on both. Almost all my lenses were purchased 2nd hand or Canon refurb, and I typically will acquire glass when it's older or replaced with a newer version. I can't bring myself to pay new MSRP prices.

RF glass is still too new to qualify for the "old stuff discount" And that's fine with me, as my EF glass performs brilliantly and there's nothing I truly need right now.

When the R5 came out, we made the switch from dslr to mirrorless. Got a good ef to rf adaptor, and our ef lenses (85, 50, 35) all work fantastic; they are sharp, fast, and beautiful.

I'm going to spend today researching the best EF to L adapter so I can continue using my EF lenses on my Leica SL bodies. Seeing some issues related to the SL type 601 so I wan to make sure I get the right adapter.

On a similiar line, I bought an adapter for my Canon EF lenses to my Fuji GFX100s ii...I am still in the "testing" stages. Mixed results but I am sure it is "operator error".
Good luck!

Well, I scored one today. Well, actually four, ! I remembered I had seen some local seller a while ago trying to sell several L mount adapters in a lot. Found the listing again and one of the adapters was a Viltrox EF-L pro version. There was also a "dumb" EF to L, a Minolta MD to L and a M42 to L. They were asking $250 for the lot. I reached out asking if they would sell the one auto focus adapter. Figured if I could get it for around $100 it would be worth trying out. Well they replied back saying they'd take $90 for it if I just took the rest of them. Of course I said sure! Still just gave her the whole $100 as it seemed well worth it.

Tested it on the Leica SL2 this evening using my Canon EF 400/5.6. Like you mentioned, mixed results but it certainly does work. I was just shooting some long shots handheld and relying on the IBIS. Realized afterwards I still had the camera setup with a generic 200mm lens profile. Really all I want is the 400mm and the 600/4 to use on the SL2 sometimes. If those work ok I'll be happy.

Funny thing is I still have around a half dozen various Minolta MD/MC mount lenses from way back in the day. Wasn't even thinking about that when I grabbed these adapters. But while I was testing the 400mm I also put one of the Minolta 50mm on my Leica SL type 601 and test it too. Looked pretty good and focusing is a breeze when you zoon in. Good score for me today. I already had two M42 to L adapters but with four M42 mounts getting another adapter makes life easier I guess.

Great news!!!!!
I have 2 Mamiya MF lenses. A 500mm and a 210mm. I have the adapter for them. I have NOT tried them yet but I am anxious to try the 500 ASAP.
I have a EF400mmf5.6 also to try and also a EF500mm(very old and non IS)....to mount later also.
