CameraQuest has a used mint copy (M-Mount) for sale with box, hood, caps for $200 under retail. I have always found the used lenses from CameraQuest to look no different than new.
If you've received the lens, I would love to see your sample images. All FM members are welcome to share, and I'll link your posts on the first page of the review.

I'd love an alternative lens hood for this lens. Not a fan of the included lens hood design at all. Contemplating rocking it without a hood and comparing it with a hood.
@rsolti13 - These look fantastic! Did you use a diffusion filter or any softening effects in post? If not, this lens displays more character than I would have expected, which is nice.
Got this lens when I was in Tokyo when the E-Mount version launched. Was lucky to actually find it in a store to buy it....Shot on A7IV, some are in crop mode some are cropped afterward in edit.
Very nice! For those who are looking to buy the E-mount version from Tokyo from now on, it's now backordered in Map Camera, Yodobashi Camera, Bic Camera but can be found in stock in Fujiya Camera (Nakano). The VM version seems to be backordered everywhere and expected to come back in stock in late February. Nikon Z version's specific release date is not yet known but will probably get announced late next week or the following week after that. I expect it to be released sometime in 2nd half of January.

Did you get one Juha? We need to see one of your galleries!
I was in Tokyo the week E mount ver. came out, but it was out on Friday and I was leaving Sat. I was hoping it would've been earlier in the week. And even then I had to look for it. If I didn't just happen to see it behind the counter at Shinjuku Yodobashi Camera I probably would not have bought it....also managed to get them to price match the Map price...lol

I really enjoyed the snow high contrast shots for seeing how well it handles color errors, as well as the night shots. This lens is outstanding in every way, including its rendering. Some images reveal so much fine, high-frequency detail that it is truly astonishing.
There is not much more anyone could ask for if they want this level of correction and this compact size. Only the Voigtlander 28mm f/2 Ultron comes close, with the Leica Summicron not far behind in third place.
Normally Yodobashi Camera and Bic Camera have 10% higher prices on most products vs. Map Camera and Fujiya Camera but they give the same 10% as bonus points to their bonus card holders and those can be used towards future purchases. I guess they may be open to dropping the price by same amount by negotiation for visitors who don't have their bonus points card. I usually buy CV lenses from Map Camera or Fujiya or Ogikubo Sakuraya but I've bought from Bic or Yodobashi on a couple of occasions when I had some coupons I could use there etc.

It seems lately that MAP is out of stock for the particular lens that I want so I go over to Yodobashi Camera and they will match MAP's price. like MAP a lot and have bought a lot of gear on their eBay store but in person, I keep striking out for whatever reason.
Funny story was I went to Yodobashi first since they open like an hour earlier(as noted it was my last full day in Tokyo so I wanted to get the lens shopping done early so I can still get some shutter time in), happen to see it not with their rest of the CV stock but just a lone box behind the counter and asked the clerk about it with my broken Nihongo. He gave me the price and I already knew it was gonna be more than Map and I was gonna just go to Map and I just explained to him basically that(was kinda awkward trying to leave after he let me look at the lens out of the box and all). He said he'll see what he can do and he matched the price. I still ended up going to Map and I actually didn't see it there at all, but I didn't ask. However I ended up buying a 16G there after doing the math on it a bit. Years ago I also bought a 24GM there so I was pretty familiar with them. With the tariff/shipping/exchange rate getting lenses in Tokyo just makes quite a bit of sense especially tax-free...

Thanks. Did not use a diffusion filter or any softening effects. Mainly played with curves

Thanks Fred! I've been very happy with this lens since I got it on release day (12/12) and it fits my style of walk-around street scenery as well as travel photography very well, since it's perfect for corner-to-corner sharp shots already from pretty wide apertures and also has some nice bokeh / rendering qualities wide open, and it handles high contrast scenes and shooting against the sun very well too. When I want more old school character and want to focus on wide open shooting, Nokton 28/1.5 or Kistar 28/3.2 will do the trick.
