Beautiful images you all are sharing from the 28/2 APO. I really wanted this lens for some time, but I have to be honest with myself that I no longer enjoy manual focusing (after decades of doing it in the past). I’ve regretfully listed for sale on our b&s board a mint Sony E copy that is sharp and centered for $825, I hope this can get in the hands of another member who will make great use of it!

That's interesting because I had kind of the opposite experience in NZ. Especially for night shots it was so nice to have a proper manual focus ring, not focus-by-wire. It is a slow workflow though because the Voigtländer lenses don't have automatic apertures (at least on Nikon Z). Because of that I find it's better to open the lens up to somewhere between f2-f4, focus, and then stop down to f/8-f11 to take the shot. For landscapes I don't mind that workflow though.

I don't think CV lenses have auto anything. The only thing electronics are the fact that the lens talks to the camera about the aperture setting for exposure and that MF ring is being turned so the camera can turn on the focus assist to zoom in, at least thats the case on the E mount version.

Indeed, everyone has their own preferences and way of working. For me, the 28 APO saved me about $6k. I find it so pleasurable to focus on the a1 and so well corrected that I have no interest in a Leica Q3.

Went out this morning to a spot in Jamestown near the base of the Newport Bridge. Took some pics with the VM 28 APO and my M11M. First pic was without a filter, second pic with a 15 stop ND filter, the third pic was with a 720nm IR cutoff filter and 5 stop ND filter. All shot at f/8. This lens works quite well for IR.
1/350th sec @ f/8, ISO 125
30 sec @ f/8, ISO 125 [15 stop ND filter]
120 sec @ f/8, ISO 125 [720nm IR filter + 5 stop ND filter]
I also have the Sony version of the lens. Went to the other end of the Newport Bridge this morning and walked around Ocean Drive. Took my full-spectrum converted Sony A1 and used an IR filter. The Sony version also works well in IR without any hot spots throughout its aperture range.
