Possibly the new Lanthar 2/28 continues the sequence.
Looking at the product shots in this thread I am meanwhile confident that the APO Lanthar 2/28 uses a different bayonet mount than the older APO lenses (or the Zeiss Distagon) with different claw layout.
It looks like the Voigtlander 28mm f/2 APO-Lanthar is in really high demand...CameraQuest won't be getting another batch until November! This lens is sold out all over the world, even in Asia. Cosina can't seem to make them fast enough, so anyone who managed to grab one from the first release was pretty lucky.

At Ogisaku (Ogikubo Sakuraya) where I bought my VM copy they also have a note on their website saying that it's now out of stock and next shipment is expected in November. In Japan there seem to be a couple of online stores outside of Tokyo that still show up as having stock but all major Tokyo shops seem to be out of stock now.
I've been playing with the VM version on my A7CII and I like the wide open bokeh shots but stopped down for infinity shots the sensor stack related field curvature is not pleasant. I think CS 28/2.8 Type II remains my favorite adapted VM at this focal length on Sony cameras. Waiting for the E-mount version of 28/2 AL. Of course I already have the 28/1.5 E-mount version (fully happy with it) and a ton of other 28mm options too since 28mm is a personal favorite focal length, but E-mount 28/2 AL will be added to my set too as soon as available.

This lens is probably not as sought after in Europe as it is in the United States and Japan.

Hoping the wait takes long enough that LLL releases an update on their 35 APO. As my preferred focal length id likely go for that instead.
Feel the same: First waiting for the LLL Apo and then chose the better option

But they won't be same focal length. Although both wide angle lenses, I see a big difference between shooting 28 and 35mm.
Very impressed with the 28mm Apo Lanthar so far. I also have the 28mm/2 Summicron M ASPH version 2023, and the Apo Lanthar is better optically in most respects except minimum focus distance. It is "transparent" in its rendering , especially with respect to color, with very low secondary color in out of focus areas, and almost no color fringing on high contrast edges (such as strongly backlit leaves & branches against a bright sky). Here's a shot I really like from a recent steel drum band concert in our village, with kids playing with a bubble machine. This was f/4, 1/500s, ISO 800 on my M11-P.
@SteveKeirstead, the way you're linking to your images isn’t embedding them in the posts. Even when I copy and paste the links into a browser, no images show up.
