If this continues to the Black Friday realm then I'm betting it will fall FLAT. It will be a RED not Black Friday to be sure. Nobody will want to shell out the higher prices for the items that typically did so well. Like ALL of the electronics firstly. Cameras won't fare any better. Sure wouldn't want to be a retailer at this time.

I fear you are right about that. Many businesses only become profitable via the holiday sales… and a whole lot of that stuff is imported. On top of that, by December we’ll be almost a year into this “experiment” and the nature and depth of the problems. we face is going to become undeniable.
To those who want to blame the manufacturers for the increase, it is most certainly not in their interest to raise prices… for two reasons:
1. Increased prices cause potential buyers to hold off, waiting to make purchases or even cancelling their purchase plans.
2. In trying to avoid that problem, manufacturers will sometimes “eat” some of the increased import tax that they’ll have to pay, so the full impact of the Trump import tax on Americans is slightly muted.
Think about this. The extra money you are paying? It is taxes. On top of any sales tax that you are already paying you are now paying an additional fee (likely hundreds of dollars) in import taxes when your product arrives in the US. Yes, your taxes went up. A lot.
And not just on cameras. On cars and car parts, computers, smart phones, televisions, clothing, tools, appliances, and much more.

Sure is sad to see the R1 price climb even beyond the overpriced Sony A1. Not sure how that's going to impact it's price. Ironically last week during the BILD thing going on with B&H for one day only they offered the R1 with an additional battery for $1000 less then it's current price. Many if I had tons of cash laying around would have jumped all over that. What a deal for those that might have indulged. Now it's too late by a long margin.
Don't worry...Sony has your back and has now raised the A1II price to $6,999.99. Therefore the new $6700 R1 price can still feel like a bargain

right you are. The other day it was still lower so as you say now the playing field has been levelled.
Purchasers should also realize that the US$ has fallen around 10% against the Japanese Yen over the last year. So the real cost of importing Japanese made goods is around 20% higher, and will be 34% if the proposed 24% tariff comes into effect.
The Canon RF 100-300mm f/2.8 L IS USM lens, is now $10,200.
An EL-1 flash is now $1,200.

Canon clearly is not trying to absorb some of the tariffs and they are now pricing themselves out. I am glad I got my R1 and 100-300 when I did. However the price increase on the LP-E19 battery is ridiculous.
How is Canon pricing themselves out? Not that you’re wrong, but your statement implies buyers have other options (assuming they must buy) - Have you looked at Sony’s increased prices…. Some Camera items have gone up nearly 30%

Ouch, I know not directly Canon but - Was just looking at some misc stuff and see the RF Rokinon 14mm (manual) jumped to $579 at B&H in the last couple of days.... Was $308 and I'm pretty sure a little less a few weeks ago. I'm sticking with my EF version
Edit: Looks like B&H playing games... Back to 400 with 180 savings.... Still higher than it was. Ignore that wrinkle in the matrix ;-)
Canon is doing some weird stuff on refurb items as well.
I rented an EF 50 1.2L over last week and forgot how much I loved that look.. so I checked refurb on a whim and saw they had some for $799.. so I picked one up. Same exact refurb now is almost twice the price, $1349. It was such a difference I thought maybe I imagined the $799 price and had to double-check my invoice..
I just ordered one.. Adorama has the same deal as always.. 3999 includes card + battery.
Canon referbs are back on sale also.
As usual a Canon 3 day scare tactic for a money grab.
Yeah R5ii, R6ii and R3 back with instant rebates (though the R3 is still a few hundred more than it's previous low price of $3999. R1 still at new $6799 so thank goodness I'm not in the market for that
Lenses are hit and miss. Most are still at their post-price-increase MSRP. But there are a few rebates on a few select RF lenses...but those rebates match the rebate amount pre-increase, so the net increase is still there after you factor in the instant rebate (e.g. a lens with a $200 instant rebate pre-tariff is now a hundred or two more even after the same $200 instant rebate has been applied).

My opinion only so Canon fan boys don't get to upset.. Who wants a R3, R1? A few will buy them but not many. Canon knows if you have the money for a low MP R1, R3 you will pay the mark up. R5II is their bread and butter. And for good reason. I am kinda curious how it performs. I personally don't get to excited about these new cameras, I usually wait about 10 years between buying a new camera. Buy the lenses forget these cameras. I ordered a new R5II, first new camera I have had in over 15 years. Personally I think I wasted my money, I buy used cameras, never had one problem.
I watch a few video's Jan and a few others that rave about the R1. Then see them at minumum focus distance. These birders are a joke IMO. Strictly click bait sites. Also see the people that rave about the R1, then see the mush after they try to crop.

What are you talking about? You got a good deal!
I paid nearly $4200 5 years ago for the R5 + 128GB Cf card + extra bat
You have a much better camera 4 years newer and 4 times the size card for $200 less then all of us early R5 adopters paid.
I think back in 2020 512 GB cfe cards were upwards of $400-$500 iirc so the difference is even more.
Coming from the 7D, be prepared to be mind blown. Especially when you pair it with your 500II. It almost magical.
You will have a learning curve ahead of you, but it's what keeps us young.

I buy used when at all possible unless it's something that I really need. I got my R5II's before they were released for $3650 new and I don't understand why people insist on paying several hundred more when you can get great deals here. They have been available for $3650 since release with full US warranty and have recently gone up a bit.
But you can still get good deals on used (like new) as well. Here's one listed with 3 batteries for $3600:
